in the 100 back and 200 back respectively. GSH had 6 swimmers qualify for this meet; Jayden Cole, Matt Hayward,

Congratulation swimmers!

2013-02-20 / Short Course Regionals – February 1 – 3, 2013

Short Course Regionals – February 1 – 3, 2013

The 12 and under sessions at Regionals were a lot of fun, with so many great and exciting races! A big congratulations goes out to our clubs highest point winner, Sharon Peng. (103 points… that’s 14% of our total team points!) Sharon earned a medal in each of her events while breaking a few of her own club records!

Thomas Knox had a great meet! He was looking strong in the water and did well with implementing technique that he has been working on in practice to his race. Really, this is what it’s all about. Taking those skills and transferring them to your race. It takes focus, and if you’ve ever watched Thomas, FOCUS is what he does best! Great job at Regionals Thomas!

Our 11 year old girls did a great job. Melissa Delfino seemed to get stronger through her 200 FLY, improving her PB by 19 sec and earning her a 3rd place medal! Morgan Green had a great swim in her 100 BR (her new favourite I think), also receiving a 3rd place medal for her swim. Continuing to prove she likes distance swims, Kendrick Cooke took 4th place for the 800 FR. A big thank-you to Olivia Gregiore for coming to Regionals and swimming with the girls in their 2 relays!

Also with Sharon in the 10 and under girls were Abigail Moffitt and Amberley Lyster. Abigail earned a 2nd place medal in both the 200 FR and 400 FR… she thought it was pretty fun standing on that podium for the first time! Amberley took 8 sec. off her 100 FLY… what a beautiful fly that kid has… runs in the family! Thank-you to Maggie Chen for swimming with Abby, Amberley and Sharon for the relays!

Aidan Kratt was our only 1 and only boy to qualify in the 10 and under category. Aidan took time off in ALL 6 of his events and received a ribbon for 5 of the 6 events! Great swims Aidan!

Also joining Thomas in the 11-12 year old boys were Ryan Justus, Logan Moffitt, and Nikola Markovic. Ryan swam his best ever 50 FR, earning him a 3rd place medal! Logan placed 3rd in the 100 BK. Nikola placed 4th in the 50 FR. Together, the 4 boys earned 3rd place in the 200 FR relay! Great work to all of you!

Once again, it was an honour to coach all of you… you are a special group of kids!

2013-01-16 / Mike Brown Meet – Perth Jan 4-6, 2013

Mike Brown Meet – Perth Jan 4-6, 2013

This years’ Mike Brown meet had many successes for Goulbourn Seahawk swimmers. For some, it was their first experience at a meet, and should be very proud of themselves. So congrats to Jamie Butler and Haileigh Chenier for a job well done; you set your first personal best times in a few events, and now the goal is to keep improving!

Amberley Lyster, 10 years old, swam the 200 FLY. She now holds the GSH club record for 200 FLY with a time of 4:07.87. She placed 2nd in this event at the meet! Way to go Amberley. I don’t know if there will be many girls under 10 wanting to challenge that event! Amberley also did very well in the 400 IM… hmmm, seems like this Lyster is more of a distance girl than a sprinter like her brothers.

Bronze swimmers must be really moving in practice these days because there were many new PB’s set in most of their events! Way to go Bronze! Keira Cunnane, from Silver 1, was blasting time off all her events; for 5 events she took a total of 37 sec. off! Wow, Keira’s on FIRE!

On Sunday we had a lot of fun at the distance events. Talia Dixon, Amberley Lyster, Abigail and Logan Moffitt all swam the 400 IM and did very well. The 800 FR was a breeze for Sophia Chapman – Pusiak, Morgan Green, Marissa Cooper, Halina Golka and Jared Theriault. To top the weekend off, Kendrick Cooke swam the 1500 FREE, at 10 years old, setting a new Club record of 23:24.25… wow… what a cool time! 23, 24, 25! Another club record that I doubt many 10 year olds will try to break! Way to go Kendrick!

2012-10-15 / GSH Black vs Gold Intramural Swim Meet - Wrap Up

The 4th Annual Black vs Gold  Intramural Meet was once again a huge success! This year the hard fought battle between the Black and Gold Teams went right down to the wire. It was almost too close to call! The final score was 202 points for the Black Team lead by Coach Barb and Coach Chelsea to 201 points for the Gold Team lead by Coach Scott and Coach Joey. doesn't get much closer than that!

In total we had 120 swimmers competing in this very fun and exciting event. That is just shy of 100 percent participation by all club members! GO SEAHAWKS GO!!!!!
