CUBS  

This program is a non-competitive level for the beginner swimmer (4 - 7 years old),  who is comfortable in the water. These swimmers will be taught the fundamentals and develop basic motor learning skills, balance, and coordination in the water.  

New this season - Swimmers must pass the Swim Alberta Competition Readiness Standard and take part in the Diving Readiness Progression Standards before they can attend a swim meet. 

The cubs swim twice a week for 30 minutes.  Depending when the pool conducts their maintenance shutdown, the cub program runs from September/October to the end of April. 

Prerequisite:

Must be comfortable putting face in the water and blowing bubbles, have a basic flutter kick on front and back. The swimmer must completed Red Cross level 3 or equivalent, and able to swim 15 meters continuously.

Program:

  • Teaching fundamentals and develop basic motor learning skills, balance, and coordination in the water.

  • Emphasis on having fun, loving the water and the sport.

  • Focus will be on Freestyle and Backstroke, with an introduction to Dolphin kick, Breaststroke, and racing starts.

  • Movement to the competitive levels is at the coach’s discretion.

Family Expectations:

  • Families are to volunteer and participate in fundraising during the season.

  • Parents are encouraged to take one officials course during the season.

  • To volunteer at the Tiger Fundamental Swim Meet.

  • To take part in club activities throughout the season
