11 - 15 LMR Program

Overview:

Age range for the swimmers in this group are 11-15 who are under 3:45 minutes for the 200 IM.  The group trains 4 times per week and features advanced training for the swimmers to achieve the next level of time standards. The focus for competition are the LMR Regional meets and local invitational meets that have the appropriate time standards for entry.  It is expected that the swimmers in this group strive to achieve movement to the Provincial 13&U/13& O groups.  Swimmers will age out of the group when they turn 15 if the criteria for the next groups have not been met.

Minimum commitment criteria for this group includes attendance at practice and all the competitions offered. As the group has a capacity and new swimmers are always moving ahead, swimmers in this group will be assessed on attendance and meet commitments.  Swimmers falling short will be given a probationary period to uphold their commitment standards or will be removed from the group.

Team Gear and Equipment Requirements:
Practice: Swimsuit (boys – jammers or briefs, no shorts), goggles, cap (especially girls with long hair), flippers, pull buoy, athletic shoes and clothes for daily dry-land.
Competition: Hyack Team Suit, Hyack Team T-shirt, Hyack “Meet” Cap, Team ‘Hoodie’ or Sweat suit encouraged.

Parents’ Commitment:
1. Arrange to have your swimmer attend all practices and as many of the other offered camps and events as possible.
2. Contact your coach to let them know if your swimmer may miss a practice or event.
3. Stay informed by reading and responding to: website, bulletin board, and as always talking with your child’s coach.
4. Parent Participation Program continues. Assist with timing at meets, get involved with other events through the year.

Practice Info: 4 x 1 ¼  or 1 ½ hour sessions per week (15-30 minutes dry-land, 60 - 75 minutes in water)
There are ‘twin’ groups operating at each pool, each with different day and time options by age.  Along with special camps, meets, and social events, the groups from each age option combine to train together on Saturday mornings mainly at CCAC.
