13 & Over AA Provincial

13& Over AA Provincial Overview:

The 13& Over AA Provincial is for athletes who have graduated from our Olympic Way Orange and Regional programs and are needing more time to meet the requirements of the Age Group Development Group.    The main focus in this level is improving an athlete's ability to swim the four competitive strokes for longer distances, and advancing fitness levels in order for them to progress into the Age Group Development group. These swimmers also continue refining competitive starts and turns for each of the four strokes. Training reliability is promoted.

The performance objective for this level is to advance the swimmer from A to AA+ level.  A swimmer will have a maximum of 18 months in this program to achieve the goal of the program.

Both pools (CGP and CCAC) will train together on selected practices to maximize the training dynamic of all swimmers in Hyack.

Pre-requisites:

Graduation from Regional or LMR group (minimum age 10 to maximum of 13)

LMR Champs standard is a performance level recommended for entry into the group.

Swimmers’ Commitment and Goals:

1.       Attend minimum 85% of practices, always attend Saturday morning practice.

2.       Aim for “AA” and “AAA” standards in your age group.

3.       Attend as many camps, swim-meets, and social events as possible on your schedule.

4.       Commit at the beginning of the season to attend all Hyack hosted meets and Championships meets that you qualify or are eligible for.   It is expected that you will prepare for and attend the LMR Championships, BC “AA” Championships, and/or the BC “AAA” Championships should you qualify.

6.       Have Fun!

Parents’ Commitment:

1.       Arrange to have your swimmer attend all practices and as many of the other offered camps and events as possible.  You are highly encouraged to initiate carpooling with other parents in the group or similar group schedule at this stage.

2.       Contact your coach to let them know if your swimmer may miss a practice or event.

3.       Stay informed by reading and responding to:emails, website, bulletin board.  Communicate with your swimmer’s coach on a regular basis via email, post-practice chat, or scheduled meeting.

4.       Parent Volunteer Requirement program continues.  Assist with timing at Invitational meets, further your Officials qualifications, get involved with other events through the year.

Practice Info:

6 x per week, generally 2 hours/practice including 30-45 minutes of dry-land/mental skill activities and 1 ¼ to 1 ½ in the water.

There are ‘twin’ groups operating at each pool, each with different day and time options by age.  Along with special camps, meets, and social events, the groups train together a few times per week (check schedule).

* CCAC swimmers:  September schedule is modified at Eagle Ridge pool to start the year, from September 8 to early October, when CCAC reopens following yearly maintenance.
