Head Coach: Katrina Carter
Katrina has a passion for competitive swimming. She is a Swimming Canada – NCCP Fundamentals Coach. She has been coaching the Hanover Swim Club since 2017 and had previously coached the Hanover Personal Best Swim team from 2007-2010. Her goal is to teach children the joy and passion of competitive swimming, while also teaching the valuable life skills that come from organized sport. Her biggest objective with coaching is to make sure that everyone is having FUN.
Besides coaching, Katrina has been a competitive swimmer for 25 plus years, much of that time training and competing in Florida. Most recently, she competed in the 2017 FINA World Masters Championship in Budapest, Hungary and the 2018 Ontario Provincial Masters Championships. Katrina is also a Registered Massage Therapist at Hanover Chiropractic.
Assistant Head Coach: Jeff Budau
Jeff has joined the Hanover Swim Club in the role of Assistant Head Coach, where he will not only be coaching our more advanced swimmers, but will also act as mentor to our coaching staff and board members. Jeff’s passion for swimming began as a swimmer in 1978, with the Sault Ste. Marie Aquatic Club (SSMAC). From 1986-1992, Jeff swam varsity at the University of Waterloo.
In 1985, Jeff’s passion for swimming moved from swimmer to his first coaching role as a novice age coach with SSMAC. From 1992-2000, Jeff was the full time Head Age Group coach with the East York Swim Club. From 2000-2008, Jeff was an assistant coach for the Port Elgin Breakers and 2008 to 2013, coached the Hanover personal best swim team – where he first met and coached with Katrina. From 2013 until 2017, Jeff volunteered as a Level 2 official with Owen Sound Aquatic club, where his daughter was swimming. From 2018 – present, Jeff volunteers as a coach for both the Port Elgin Breakers and the Hanover Swim Club.
Jeff is a NCCP level 3 Trained coach, who has coached national and international level swimmers. He also has an Honours Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, with a Minor in Biology from the University of Waterloo (1992) and a Master’s of Science in Psychology (Human Factors focus) from the University of Idaho (2010).
The Hanover Swim Club is very excited to have someone with Jeff’s experience and knowledge to teach our swimmers and mentor our club.
Assistant Coach: Trevor Bouchard
Trevor began swimming competitively at the age of 10 as a member of the Cambridge Aquajets where he was a club record holder in the 50 Breast SC/LC.
Trevor continued his swimming career as a member of the McMaster University Marauders swim team where he competed for 5 seasons, one of which he was part of OUA championship team. After graduating Trevor continued swimming competitively as a masters swimmer where he has completed at Canadian, United States and World Championships winning medals at many of these events. Currently, Trevor, is an assistant coach for the Hanover Swim Club and his day job is as the CEO of QuickContractors.com Inc.
Assistant Coach: Alyssa Bosman
Alyssa is a NCCP Fundamental Coach. She has four children, three of whom participate on the swim club. Alyssa likes to share her knowledge and skills with her swimmers. Alyssa places great value on the ability to swim and feels that the Hanover Swim Club provides swimmers with an opportunity to not only learn the strokes but to also build strength, endurance, and confidence.
Assistant Coach: Stefanie Kaster
Stefanie is a NCCP Fundamental Coach. She is a mother to 2 very energetic boys, both of whom are members of the Hanover Swim Club. Since 2007, she has worked for the Brockton & Area Family Health Team, as a Primary Healthcare Nurse Practitioner. Recognizing the immense benefits of swimming, she is committed to seeing the HSC evolve. In addition to coaching, she is also the Treasurer for the HSC Board.
Assistant Coach: Bryce McDiarmid
Bryce McDiarmid has been swimming since the age of 7. She swam on two swim teams growing up, as well attended a swim camp at McMaster University. During this time, she found a passion for swimming. Once old enough to become a lifeguard she worked at the Hanover Pool, and Mildmay Pool in the summers. While working in Mildmay, Bryce co-coached the Mildmay Bluefins. She is also swimming on the Masters swim team in Hanover this season.
Bryce is super excited to begin coaching this season. Currently she is a fundamentals coach trained. She has a love for instructing and seeing swimmers improve their strokes and times, as well as build self-confidence and having fun!
Assistant Coach: Kelsey Simpson
Kelsey Simpson is excited to be helping with the Hanover Swim Club this season. Her passion for swimming began at 8 years old when she joined the Mildmay Bluefins Swim Team. As her love for swim team grew, she also had the pleasure of being part of the Port Elgin Breakers. Continuing to pursue her love of the water, she completed her lifeguarding qualifications and at the age of 16 was employed by the Municipality of South Bruce. Working in Mildmay gave her the opportunity to become head coach of the Mildmay Bluefins Swim Team and has been coaching for the past 9 summers.
Kelsey graduated from the University of Guelph in April 2019 with her Bachelor of Science, honours. Her program major was Biomedical Science and her minor was in Neuroscience. During her time at the University of Guelph, she was employed with the City of Guelph as a lifeguard Deck Supervisor.
She is currently working to complete her NCCP level 1 Fundamentals certification and is looking forward to an amazing season with the Hanover Swim Club.
Assistant Coach: Darren Goodayle
Darren is a Fundamental Coach trained. He has been swimming for as long as he can remember. Growing up Darren belonged on the Chesley Swim Club. He is excited to share his love of the water with his two kids, one of which is currently a member of the Hanover Swim Club. He is also looking forward to working with all of the other swimmers on the Hanover Swim Club!

Jenn is in the process of completing her fundamental coaching certificate. She has two children that are both participating in the swim club. Jenn enjoys supporting the swimmers to have fun while learning new swimming skills. Watching how quickly the swimmers improve their swimming abilities is inspiring and something that she is excited to be a part of.
Assistant Coach: Jenn Brunner
Jenn has loved swimming from a young age, participating on swim team as a child and completing her lifeguarding qualifications. Jenn continues to swim recreationally with her three children, two of whom are on the swim team. Jenn is currently a fundamentals coach in training, and loves working with children and sharing with them her passion for swimming. Jenn’s goals are for the children on the team to learn and develop their swimming technique, gain self-confidence, and most of all -have fun! Jenn is a Social Worker in the community, who believes that being on the swim team not only provides individual achievement and a team environment, but also encourages healthy mental/emotional health. Jenn looks forward to being a part of the Hanover Swim Club!
