About our Recreational Programs:
KW Synchro’s Recreational program is one session per week, for 1 or 2 hours. Our KW Coaching Staff are certified lifeguards and teach each participant proper swimming and survival skills. Participants must pass basic swimming and synchro skills to graduate to a competitive program.
KW Synchro’s recreational programs are designed around the Canadian Sport for Life (CS4L) Long-term Athlete Development (LTAD) initiative. By adopting LTAD, KW Synchro is committed to ensuring that children learn fundamental movement skills transferable to all sports, along with a strong foundation of synchro skills. Research conducted by CS4L shows that children physically educated in the LTAD method will:
Enjoy overall health benefits by developing greater physical literacy, which encourages them to be more physically active throughout their lives.
Pass the mid-assessment checklist (see below photo).
Pass levels 1 or 2 in the recreational program before advancing to the novice program or higher levels (see below photo).
Recreational athletes will perform at the Spring Showcase on Wednesday June 6, 2018 at Cameron Heights Pool. This will be their last day of the season.
Participants in KW Synchro’s recreational programs will develop stamina (endurance), strength, speed, suppleness (flexibility) and synchro skills in a fun-filled, supportive environment. Swimmers will also develop friendships and exercise their creativity learning team-based routines that are performed at club water shows in December and April. In addition, participants in full-year programs have the opportunity to take part in local recreational competitions, and attend practices with KW Synchro’s competitive teams.
KW Synchro’s recreational programs are suitable for participants of any age who have basic swimming competency. Swimmers should be comfortable in the water. Recreational programs are age-based and teamed together accordingly.
We recommend that swimmers AGE 5 to 17 practice once a week for two (2) hours each week (over 18 please refer to Masters Programming).
