We had a very good weekend at Brock U. at the 13&Over WOSA Regional Championships. Through the concentrated efforts and positive attitudes of every single swimmer attending, over the course of a very long weekend, we ended up placing first overall in the team rankings by almost 300 points. Well done WOSA champions! Twenty-six swimmers collected 64 medals in individual and relay events, and another 17 swimmers placed in the top 8, while we achieved almost 200 personal bests. Congratulations to the eight swimmers who achieved 100% PB's: Jessica Allen, Sam Cormier, Sami Ferwati, Maggie MacNeil, Aiden Riekenbrauck, William Stewart, Carter Stuckless, and Yudi Yang; and congratulations to club record-setter Maggie MacNeil in the 13/14 girls 50BK. And thank you to our parental cheering section, who made some great noise in the stands at Sat and Sun finals! For a listing of our WOSA medalists see the "What's New" section of the website.
Good luck to our 44 swimmers competing this weekend at Western U. at the 12&Under Regional Champs. GO LAC GO!

From Meet Co-Managers Greg Lewis and Sheri Cappa:
We are pleased to be hosting the 12 and Under Regional Long Course Championships this weekend at Western.
We are still in need of some help. Please contact Mary Allen at firstname.lastname@example.org if you can assist with Strokes and Turns. There are still five positions available to assist with Canteen. Please contact Tim Clark at email@example.com if you can help with setting out food and drinks for officials just prior to and in between sessions. There are two positions available per session to assist with preparation of awards. This involves attaching labels to ribbons and medals and sorting the awards by team. Please contact Lianne Wong at LWong@fanshawec.ca.
Senior swimmers or high school students wishing to obtain volunteer hours are welcome to assist with canteen and awards. Certification is required to sign-up for Strokes and Turns. The sessions are being run both Saturday and Sunday mornings starting at 9 a.m. and afternoons starting at 2:30 p.m. Your commitment for one session would be approximately 3.5 to 4.5 hours.
Thank you for helping the youngest swimmers in our region achieve their goals!
LAC SWIM CAMP – JULY 7-10
This is just a reminder for those who are signed up for swim camp that cheques for $150 were due June 1st. Cheques made payable to the London Aquatic Club may be given to your swimmer’s coach. The LAC staff is looking forward to another great year at swim camp!
PAUL HAUCH MEET – JULY 11 – 13
To all swim families!
The Paul Hauch meet is fast approaching and we need to start collecting bell heat prizes!
Each swim family (1st year families included!) need to donate a prize(s) worth $10 for this meet. The more the merrier! More prizes mean more winners!
Certain heats throughout the meet will hear a bell at the start and the winner of these heats pick a great prize! This gives all the swimmers a chance to win something and they love it!!
Ideas for prizes include gift cards, towels, water bottles, flip flops, candy, etc!
Please drop off prizes to us (Anthony & Mimi Prier-age group orange) or any coaches and they will get it to us.
Feel free to email or text me with any questions.
Mimi Prier firstname.lastname@example.org (519)777-1593
We are also looking for senior officials for the Hauch meet.
If you would like to try a position and get some experience to help you move up the ladder. Support can be provided so you aren't on your own and have a chance to learn. We try to do this meet with our own officials.
For further information please call Alex VanderKam at 226-980-6404 or email at email@example.com or Fraser Gatt at 519-630-6181 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.

Attendance is not mandatory; however, we encourage at least one member of each swim family to attend this very informative evening.

Introduction to Meet Manager
We have introduced Clerk of Course, Chief Finish Judge, Chief Timekeeper, Electronics Operator, and Starter. This week I will introduce Meet Manager. Remember this is a very brief outline of the usual duties.
Meet Manager – As the name implies the Meet Manager arranges the meet. This job can be done by a single person or by a group (2 to 5) of people. The Meet Manager is expected to be at all sessions of the meet but most of the work is done before the meet even starts. The job starts in September when our meet schedule is posted on the LAC website. Things that must be done between then and the meet include but are not limited to: maintaining a waiting list of teams wishing to attend the meet, producing a meet package and getting the meet sanctioned, working with the manager of the pool to put together an event order, setting up the meet on the meet management software and posting the event file to Swim Canada for coaches, receiving entries from the teams and importing them into the software, producing a meet program, and working with all of the other groups such as Canteen, Awards, Minor Officials coordinators, Equipment Coordinator, and the Meet Referee to make sure that all of the little details are taken care of at the right time. This may sound like a lot but if you don’t procrastinate so that it is spread over months or weeks it is quite manageable. During the meet you make sure that everything runs to schedule and everything that needs to get done does get done. There is a clinic that must be taken for this job but it is best learned on the job with an experienced mentor. Next week Chief Judge Electronics.
If anyone has any questions about anything officiating related, please do not hesitate to contact me.
