The June 30 – July 23 schedule for our Age Group and Senior National qualifiers has been reposted on the LAC website. 13&over Provincial Team swimmers will also follow this schedule next week.
Good luck to our 12 swimmers competing at the Provincial 13&Under Festival in Nepean this weekend. As we gear up for the provincial and national championship meets, and as we wind down into the end of another exciting and rewarding year, the coaches want to thank everyone, swimmers and parents alike, for consistently demonstrating such great discipline and commitment in the following areas:
1. Helping each other be right - not wrong. 2. Looking for ways to make new ideas work - not for reasons why they won't. 3. If in doubt, checking it out, and not making negative assumptions about each other. 4. Helping each other win and taking pride in each other's victories. 5. Speaking positively about each other and about your team at every opportunity. 6. Acting with initiative and courage as if it all depended on you. 7. Doing everything with enthusiasm - because it's contagious. 8. Whatever you wanted, giving it away. 9. Not losing faith, and never giving up. 10. SMILING and MAKING IT FUN!
*These are the 10 Commandments for a Successful Team.
PAUL HAUCH MEET – JULY 11 – 13
The Paul Hauch meet is fast approaching and we are collecting bell heat prizes! The more the merrier! More prizes mean more winners! Certain heats throughout the meet will hear a bell at the start and the winners of these heats pick a great prize! This gives all the swimmers a chance to win something and they love it!! Ideas for prizes include gift cards, towels, water bottles, flip flops, candy, etc!
Please drop off prizes to us (Anthony & Mimi Prier-age group orange) or any coaches and they will get it to us. Feel free to email or text me with any questions:

Minor Officials: Sign-ups for the meet are now open. For those of you not familiar with the meet, it is a lot of fun and the place to be is actually timing where the tents provide some shade. Remember that friends and family can help with timing (must be at least 14 years old). Also, remember the younger swimmers are in the morning and the older swimmers in the afternoon for this meet.
Other Positions: Sign-ups for the meet are now open for canteen, awards and equipment set-up.
Senior Officials: We are also looking for senior officials for the Hauch meet, if you would like to try a position and get some experience to help you move up the ladder. Support can be provided so you aren't on your own and have a chance to learn. We try to do this meet with our own officials.
For further information please call Alex VanderKam at 226-980-6404 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org or Fraser Gatt at 519-630-6181 or email email@example.com.
The Dr. Paul Hauch Invitational, the final LAC hosted meet of the season, is in 3 weekends and we are looking for officials. The sign-ups for timing and strokes and turns are already posted with lots of spots still available. If you are already qualified or if you can take the online clinic for a level 2 job (those are the ones that I have been summarizing over the last few weeks) prior to the meet and want to give it a try, please sign-up using your OSOA account, or you can contact Alex Vanderkam (see above). If anyone needs information about the online clinics please let me know.
For 2014-15, we are looking for help&support in a couple of key areas:
1) Our meet managers are basically confirmed, but we will be taking a slightly different approach in this area - the plan is to manage the meets as "teams" because many hands make light work. If you would be willing to help out as part of a 2014-15 meet management team for any of our hosted meets please let me know. This will be a great way to learn the meet management "ropes" without taking on the whole job.
2) We need to increase our number of level two officials. Level two officials are those who have taken both the timer and strokes&turns clinics and have received two deck sign-offs for each. They then would have attended one more clinic and received the deck sign-offs for that. There is no more effort to becoming a Level Two official than you would already be committing - you get a session credit for each clinic taken for the first time and, if you're working a session anyway, a deck sign-off for that session costs nothing. The bonus is that you can add variety to your officiating, making the whole experience much more interesting. If anyone is willing to help out LAC in this way next season please let me know. I am looking for at least 12 people. I will be hosting live clinics for all of the senior positions next season and will be offering mentorship to help with this goal.
If anyone has any questions about anything officiating related, please do not hesitate to contact me.
See you at Hauch!
