Coaches Reports

GOOD LUCK to everyone at our Nothers Invitational this weekend.  Remember, "Luck lies at the intersection of PREPARATION and OPPORTUNITY."  This weekend will let you know where you are in your training, what you have been doing well and what you need to continue working on (or start working on) for the next time. Remember your T-shirt rotation: navy on Day 1, royal on Day 2, and orange on Day 3 (if you don’t have all 3 colors don’t worry about it, but be wearing LAC! Everyone should also have our team bathing cap.) This is "our house", so let's show lots of spirit, and please remember and follow these standard meet protocols: be on time, warm up well, see your coach before and after each race, stay warm and hydrated and fueled, and HAVE FUN! There’s something good in every race, something to improve on in every race, and another race coming up soon, so keep your eyes on the road ahead!

Our weekend with ASCA Executive Director John Leonard was a big success – John challenged all of us, swimmers, coaches, and parents, and shared a lot of valuable information and advice. We are an even better, stronger club now than we were last week. Congratulations to our young swimmers who did such a great job during Sunday morning’s practice with Coach John, and thank you to those parents who were able to attend his Sunday morning talk. It was informative, provocative, and affirming. For those who couldn’t make it (sorry for the Fri postponement), the video of his talk will be posted to the website soon and we recommend everyone take the 90 minutes to watch it.

Nothers Swim Meet – Food item donations for the canteen
Please drop off food items at the CGAC on Thursday between 6-7:30 pm.
Food items should be approximately $10.00 in value.  All fruit and vegetables should be brought in whole. No-Name pop should NOT be substituted for the name brand requested.

Food contributions are required whether or not your swimmer is participating in the swim meet because the revenue generated from swim meets is included in the general revenue of the club and benefits all swimmers. Swim families who will not be at the swim meet are encouraged to arrange with another family to bring the food contribution.

FAQ Session Credit document is available on the LAC site
New and returning LAC Members: Read all of the information about the LAC session credit volunteer commitments for hosting LAC swim meets.
The document is posted on the LAC site under the “Swimmer A/Cs” tab.

IT’S OFFICIAL!
The 5 live clinics are complete and we had a pretty good turnout: Chief Timekeeper (6), Timekeeper and Safety Marshall (11), Clerk Of Course (6), Starter (6), and Judge of Strokes and Turns (15)!  Oh, those were not the same 6 people at those 3 clinics, so the knowledge pool is a little wider than it may appear.  Thanks to all of those who came out!  We have also had some people take advantage of the online clinics, which is great to see.

I will be hosting these clinics again, plus Chief Finish Judge prior to the 12 and Under Celebration.  That may be the last time for some of them this season but certainly the last until just before Hollandia.

If anyone has taken the Strokes and Turns clinic and would like a review, there are review videos on the Officials tab which is available when you sign into this web site.

It is not too late if you would like to give the Timing Console Operator job a try.  This is perhaps one of officiating’s best kept secrets.  It is a simple and interesting job, and there is not a lot of competition for the work.  LAC could use a few more people who can do this job.  If you are willing, please let me know and I will arrange for you to mentor with someone.

Nothers Fall Invitational – Senior Officials
The assignments for senior officials jobs have now been finalized but if you would like to mentor at one, that you have taken a clinic for, then you can contact Denise McDonald  mcdonald.denise.e@gmail.com the Meet Referee for Nothers, and she will let you know if there is a session where she can pair you up with someone.  Just let her know the position(s) that you are interested in and the sessions that you are available for.
