Coaches Reports
Congratulations to everyone for some great swimming in Windsor last weekend at the Regional Championships. In what proved to be a very close race, we finished 4th overall in the team rankings: 1)WEST 727 2)BAD 723 3)CW 715.5 4)LAC 710. We had close to 300 personal bests achieved, out of just over 500 swims, and there were 13 swimmers who achieved 100% pb’s. 24 swimmers placed in the top 3 in an individual event, with a total of 52 top 3 finishes (15G-20S-17B), while another 17 swimmers placed in the top 8. For a full performance summary check the “What’s New” section of the website.

Many of you raced multiple events in the finals sessions and showed great determination and grit, while many younger LAC’ers swam back-to-back races in the afternoon sessions and displayed the same determination and grit. What is grit? The dictionary defines it first as “very small pieces of sand or stone”; but it is also defined as “mental toughness and courage.”  It is important to go into your championship meets with confidence, and the best way to do that is to have worked consistently hard in the days, weeks and months leading up to the championship moment. With hard work comes confidence, confidence combined with mental toughness and courage is a sure-fire recipe for success.

CONGRATULATIONS to London Aquatic Club record-setter William Stewart in the 13/14 boys 50BR.

LAC Bingo
Did you know that LAC works bingo at the Lucky Days bingo hall once a month as a form of fundraising? The LAC bingo committee is in need of some new volunteers who can help us out on a regular basis. Working bingo requires that volunteers arrive at the bingo hall at approximately 4:30pm. We count and sell cards for the evening, and then help tidy up before heading home at about 10:00pm. Volunteers receive one session credit and $40.00 towards the family travel account for each bingo session worked. If you think this is something that you can do to support our club please contact Rhonda Springer at Our next bingo date is February 11 and we would love to have some new volunteers join us.

We had a nice relaxed WOSA Sting meet this past weekend!  Thanks to our Meet Manager Margaret Marshall for continuing to volunteer with LAC.  Another great job Margaret!  With one exception, this meet was fully staffed by LAC officials!  A great job was done by all.

Our next home meet is not until the Good Friday Pentathlon in April.  Enjoy the break.  Maybe take the opportunity to try helping at an away meet such as provincials or to take a couple of new on-line clinics!

The Western Region will be hosting our Spring Clinic Day on Saturday, March 7 at Conestoga College in Cambridge. I have posted the flyer for these clinics on the Officials tab on the LAC Web Site. There is a selection of clinics in the morning and again in the afternoon. There is no charge and morning refreshments and lunch are provided.  I will be attending and would be happy to drive if anyone wants to hitch a ride.
