Coaches Reports
CONGRATULATIONS to our swimmers who competed at the 13&Under Provincial Festival last weekend. Highlights include a gold medal for Sam Cormier in the 100FL, a silver medal for Leah Polito in the 400IM, a bronze medal for Tyrus Kalanyos in the 100BR, and Carter Buck for achieving 100% PB’s.  We talk a lot about expanding the “comfort zone” - what we mean by this is that everyone must challenge themselves to try new things, things that perhaps might seem unrealistic or even impossible. Sometimes it’s about competing in unfamiliar surroundings, perhaps going to your first ever regional or provincial or national meet. You need to remind yourself that you’re there because you earned it and you deserve to be there, but you must also remind yourself that the first time competing at the next level most often is simply a “fact-finding” mission, checking everything out, realizing it’s simply a swim meet like any other, and understanding that with the experience will come more comfort and confidence, and the personal bests will follow. It is rare that the swimmer who qualifies for their first championship meet goes to that meet and performs personal bests in every event. Be proud that you qualified, enjoy the experience, race smart and tough, and know that the experience has made you a better swimmer. Good luck to our swimmers competing at the Provincial Championships this coming weekend in Brantford. GO LAC GO!

First Time Qualifiers – Congratulations!

LAC Bingo
Did you know that LAC works bingo at the Lucky Days bingo hall once a month as a form of fundraising? The LAC bingo committee is in need of some new volunteers who can help us out on a regular basis. Working bingo requires that volunteers arrive at the bingo hall at approximately 4:30pm. We count and sell cards for the evening, and then help tidy up before heading home at about 10:00pm. Volunteers receive one session credit and $40.00 towards the family travel account for each bingo session worked. If you think this is something that you can do to support our club please contact Rhonda Springer at rhondaspringer@hotmail.com. Our next bingo date is February 11 and we would love to have some new volunteers join us.

IT’S OFFICIAL!
On Tuesday, February 17th LAC donated the use of its timing system, the scoreboard, the LAC set-up and teardown crews and a number of Senior officials to the WOSSAA (Western Ontario Secondary Schools Athletic Association) Swim Meet.   This gesture was very much appreciated by everyone at the meet and we received an honourable mention in the London Free Press.  Thank you to all of the LAC folks who helped with this gift to the community.
The Western Region will be hosting our Spring Clinic Day on Saturday, March 7 at Conestoga College in Cambridge. I have posted the flyer for these clinics on the Officials tab on the LAC Web Site. There is a selection of clinics in the morning and again in the afternoon. There is no charge, and morning refreshments and lunch are provided.  I will be attending and would be happy to drive if anyone wants to hitch a ride.  There are still seats available.
