Coaches Reports
The road to anywhere is filled with many potholes, and it takes a person of great determination and character not to fall into them. Whenever you get your head above the average, someone will be there to take a poke at you.  That happens in all phases of life. But remember, when you see someone on top of the mountain, they didn’t just land there!  Chances are they had to climb through many difficulties, with many nay-sayers, and with a great expenditure of energy, in order to get there. A great attorney, a great doctor, a great business person, a great athlete, they all work with a definite plan, and an aim, and a purpose, and they will be envied by those less successful.

By your own soul learn to live,
And if people thwart you, take no heed;
If people hate you, have no care.
Sing your song, hope your hope,

CONGRATULATIONS to everyone who participated in our 2015 SWIMATHON campaign, through your involvement LAC raised nearly $15,000. Due to your great effort we are one big step closer to securing 8 new start blocks and other equipment upgrades.

Swim-A-Thon Event Report
Thanks to all of you that got involved in the LAC Swim A Thon campaign and event; through your effort LAC raised nearly $15,000.
Congratulations to the top 5 individual winners: Julia Blaha, Eleonora Pierre, Alex Lobo, Sabrina Wang and Samantha Elkami.
The Group Award goes to the Age Group Gold group. Pizza Party details will be confirmed in the next week.
A complete list of campaign award winners will be posted on the LAC site.
Thanks again for your effort and involvement.

The new officiating dress code is now in effect. I contacted the Glenn Greig, our Meet Referee for Hollandia, and he would like the senior officials to start wearing white shirts and black pants. The minor officials (S&T and Timers) can continue with the traditional whites or switch over to the new white top/black bottom now. I found nice black pants at Mark’s Work Wearhouse for $29.99 that are a 40/60 poly/cotton blend that is summer weight, dries quickly, seems unaffected by chlorine so far and have none of the disadvantages of showing every stain and turning translucent when wet.

Time for your weekly reminder that you can sign up now for senior official positions at the Swim Ontario Summer Festival using your OSOA accounts. If you are not yet qualified, but plan to be qualified before the meet, please let the Meet Referee know this by saying so in the comments when you register on-line.

By the time you read this the first 5 in my series of 7 officiating clinics will be complete. Due to low interest, about 70 opportunities for 2 hour session credits will be left on the table.  Next season there will be an opportunity for each clinic at the beginning of the short course season and again at the beginning of the long course season, nothing in the spring. On-line clinics can be taken at any time and the WOSOA clinic days will continue in the fall and spring.  There are still two live clinics left. If you have not taken the timer clinic, I will remind you that the registration package, that everyone received and signed off on, indicates that all LAC families are supposed to take the timer clinic in their first season. If you are past your first season and have still not taken the clinic, it is not too late. The two remaining clinics will be at CGAC, both in the ground level meeting room, which can seat 40 or more.  The sign-ups are still available. The Timekeeper sign-up is on the LAC site. The Strokes and Turns sign-up can be done using your OSOA account. This is all explained on the Officials tab when you sign in to the LAC site. Very simple.

Here is the schedule for the last two clinics:
1. Timekeeper and Safety Marshall: Friday, May 1 5:30-7:30 P.M. CGAC Upper Meeting Room
2. Strokes and Turns: Saturday, May 2 9:00-11:30 A.M. CGAC Upper Meeting Room

As always, each clinic that you take for the first time is worth a session credit.
