Coaches Reports
Good luck to everyone swimming at Hollandia this weekend, and also to David Hickey, Leah Polito and Coach Liz, who will be representing Team Ontario in Montreal at the Eastern Canadian Tri-Meet and Camp. And remember, you have to “DARE” if you want to perform at your best!
DETERMINATION: The refusal to quit or accept defeat; the persistence to try and try again; the willingness to practice long and hard.  Determined athletes are relentless in their efforts to improve and win.
AGGRESSIVENESS: Winners make things happen instead of waiting for them to happen.  They take charge, force action, and produce results.  They assert themselves strongly and make their presence felt.  They thrive on competition.
RESPONSIBILITY: Winners accept total responsibility for their actions.  They recognize their own mistakes and the need for change and improvement.  They admit errors and will not blame others or make excuses.
EMOTIONAL CONTROL: Successful athletes can handle the pressure of competition.  They stay cool, adjust quickly and are not upset by bad breaks or bad calls.  They deliver top performances regardless of the circumstances.

The new officiating dress code is now in effect. For Hollandia, the senior officials should start wearing white shirts and black pants (or black pants, skirts, capris, etc. for the ladies). The minor officials (S&T and Timers) can continue with the traditional whites for Hollandia or switch over to the new white top/black bottom now. So far I have seen nothing but advantages to the new deck style.

The Swim Ontario Summer Festival is closer than you think! You can sign up now for senior official positions at the Swim Ontario Summer Festival using your OSOA accounts. If you are not yet qualified, but plan to be qualified before the meet, please let the Meet Referee know this by saying so in the comments when you register on-line.

The classroom clinics are now done for this season.  We had a group very good students. Lot’s of good discussion. I am looking forward to seeing all of this knowledge put to use! A reminder to those attending the Level I Timekeeper and Safety Marshal clinic to please register for an account, if you don’t already have one. The on-line clinics are still available for those who still want to learn a new job and I am willing to teach a live clinic if you can scare up a few people to attend with you.  As always, each clinic that you take for the first time is worth a session credit.
