Coaches Reports
THE ONE IN THE GLASS

When you get what you want in your struggle for self
And the world makes you king for a day,
Just go to the mirror and look at yourself
And see what that one has to say.

For it isn’t your parents or teammates or friends
Whose judgment upon you must pass.
The person whose verdict counts most in your life
Is the one staring back from the glass.

If you’ve had some success in your time at the pool
You may think that you’re sitting quite high.
But the one in the glass says you’re only a fool
If you can’t look him straight in the eye.

That’s the person to please – never mind all the rest,
For he’s with you right through to the end.
And you’ve passed your most dangerous, difficult test
If the one in the glass is your friend.

You may trick the whole world down the pathway of years
And get pats on the back as you pass.
But your final reward will be heartache and tears
If you’ve cheated the one in the glass.

CONGRATULATIONS to our 97 swimmers who competed over the past 2 weekends at the Western Ontario Championship meets, the 13&over event was 2 weeks ago at Western University and last weekend the 12&U event took place in Waterloo. Between the 2 meets LAC swimmers achieved personal bests in 54.5% of their races, which is a great performance at this time of year, when perhaps some may be starting to lose their focus somewhat and begin pining for the end of the season. 10 swimmers performed pb’s in 100% of their swims, and we collected 54 individual medals (13 gold, 17 silver, and 24 bronze). One of our “catch phrases” is “FINISH STRONG!”, and throughout the 2 meets there was plenty of good, smart, tough racing in the closing quarter. We are definitely in the closing quarter of the 2014-15 swim year – this is when you want to show your coaches and your fellow competitors what kind of determination and commitment and perseverance you have.
“If you want to finish first, first you must finish!”

IT’S OFFICIAL!
Call for Festival Officials! We are still in need of senior officials for the 2015 Swim Ontario Summer Festival being hosted by LAC on June 27 and 28 at CGAC. If you have the training please use your OSOA account to sign-up for a senior position. We also need senior officials for the Dr. Paul Hauch Invitational. Sign-up now using your OSOA account.

At the end of June, the online clinics will be shut down until at least next season so if you want to take advantage of this tool and add a session credit or two, make sure that you get it done before July. The on-line clinics ARE still available through June for those who want to learn a new job. As always, each clinic that you take for the first time is worth a session credit.
