Coaches Reports
CONGRATULATIONS to LAC's GRADUATING SWIMMERS! The entire LAC family is extremely proud of our 12 graduates who have been such an integral part of our team, and will be moving on to the next exciting chapters in their lives: David, Ashleigh, Sam, Reena, Mitra, Christina, Vaneeta, Torie, Tessa, Connor, Aitana and Emma - you have ALL done a tremendous job of balancing your school and swimming commitments, you have all been great ambassadors, role models, teammates and performers for the London Aquatic Club, and you are special people, because you are SWIMMERS! You will experience many future successes because of the character traits you have developed through your swimming.

CONGRATULATIONS to our 18-member Festival squad, who performed very well last weekend. Our best times improvement rate was a very impressive 81%, with Julia, Carter, Bill, Jack, Cleo, James and Mikel all achieving 100% pb’s, and  congratulations to Carter (800FR) and Leah (400FR) for earning individual bronze medals.

THANK YOU to outgoing club administrator Kelly Steeves, who worked diligently in many areas throughout the busy 2014-15 swim year to help ensure the continued smooth operation of our growing organization.

SUCCESS IS FAILURE TURNED INSIDE OUT
When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re on seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit –
Rest if you must, but don’t you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a person turns about
When they might have won had they stuck it out.
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow –
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the struggler has given up
When they might have captured the victor’s cup;
And they learned too late when the night came down,
How close they were to the golden crown.
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit –
It’s when things seem worst that you mustn’t quit.

Pan-American Games tickets
Swimming Canada is currently offering a 20% discount on all remaining available tickets for preliminaries and finals. The first day of swimming is Tue.Jul.14 and the last day is Sat.Jul.18. Tickets are NOT inexpensive - $65 for prelims and $145 for finals, per seat, with the 20% discount. The club will not be organizing a group trip, so if you wish to see some of the swimming “live”, you can make your arrangements through the Swimming Canada website. We are still investigating the ParaPanAm Games, as we have 3 current or former LAC’ers competing.

Workout Changes
The June 29th to July 11th schedule is now in effect - Please check for schedule updates under the “schedule” tab on the LAC website.

IT’S OFFICIAL!
2015 Swim Ontario Summer Festival is now a legacy it, was an awesome meet folks! Swim Ontario was suitably impressed!

I would like to sincerely thank everyone who came out to help at the little meet that I was managing this past weekend! I was getting pretty worried there. Thank you to everyone who gave up some of their weekend to support LAC and the province at a session, or two, or more.

I especially want to thank Greg Lewis, our Meet Referee and Rose Block Hansen, my mentors for this meet. Team work makes the job lighter and these two helped with the lifting, if I would let them, and when I didn’t, they advised on how to make the lifting easier. At the risk of missing someone, I want to thank Craig Forsey for creating that awesome program that sold out by the second session, David Cliche for jumping in and getting the canteen organized at the last minute, Mary Allen for helping to overcome the officiating deficit, and Jan and the set up crew who are getting pretty slick at assembling for a meet. We had an even larger number of out of town officials than usual at this meet, especially senior officials.  We could not do this without them.  If any happen to read this.  Thank you!

Finally I want to thank Ben Perlman and his CGAC staff. They truly are a delight and they go out of their way to find ways to help us!

Now, enough of the past.  We have another meet in less than 2 weeks. The 38th Annual Dr. Paul Hauch Invitational runs from July 10 to 12 at Thames Pool. This is a really fun season ending meet for our swimmers and those of several other clubs who attend. This is a single ended meet so the requirements are less but we still require it to be staffed. The sign-ups are now available, do not delay! The sooner the jobs are filled, the sooner the Meet Referee (me) can stop biting his nails. If you are interested in working as a senior official and are qualified, the sign-ups have been available for weeks using your OSAO accounts.

If anyone is interested in buying a Swim Ontario name tag (about $8.00) please let me know. It looks really nice with your officiating PIN on it. An order will be placed in the first week of July. If you intend strive for level III, you will get one for free with that achievement! I recommend this route for everyone.

If you have any questions please contact me, Mark Lukings L.A.C. Co-Club Officials Chair at lac.coc@gmail.com

Dr. Paul Hauch Invitational Announcement - Prizes:

Hello Parents and Swimmers;

Our Hauch meet is fast approaching and in keeping with tradition we will be doing our famous bell heats. Instead of asking for a food donation for this meet, each family will be asked to donate $10 worth of prizes (broken up into smaller prize amounts if possible to spread the prizes out further.) Examples from previous years are $5 gift cards, Towels, Water bottles and a variety of fun toys for the kids to play with around the pool for the day.

When you have your prizes please bring them to your coach or Linda Szabo who is available during age group bronze workouts or can come by other times by arrangement. Please make sure to attach a swim family name when handing in your prizes so we make sure to credit your swimmer account and you don't get charged.

Thanks in advance to everyone and I look forward to seeing you all at the meet.

Regards,
Fraser Gatt
