As you all take the first steps on your 2015-16 swimming journey, it's important to remember that every journey needs a destination. Hopefully you all have some clear goals in mind. A goal is not something you HOPE for, it is something you work hard toward and achieve! HOPE is not a strategy...the coaches do not want you standing behind the blocks at the big meet with your fingers crossed...HOPING. Constant, consistent effort and attention to the details will see you achieve your goals.
Goals when we set them are shimmering and shiny, perfect and glossy - but we must be willing to accept that the road to achieving them will be filled with challenges, both expected and unexpected. Walls will rise up in front of you and people will say "You can't do that." Accept that things will not go according to plan, that the path will be sometimes bumpy and lonely, and will not be straight. If you are able to do this, yet continue to work constantly and consistently, paying attention to the details, and staying positive, then you will be one step closer to successfully achieving your goals.
Sports Lab on TVO
At long last, the "Swimming" episode of Sports Lab is scheduled to premiere Monday September 28 at 6:30 pm on TVO with reruns the following Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Please check the website leading up to the date to ensure the time hasn't shifted. This episode features LAC swimmers and was recorded at CGAC.

As mentioned in last week’s Newsletter, a Western Region Clinic Day has now been scheduled. This fall clinic day will be held at Conestoga College (Cambridge Campus – less than 1 hour drive from CGAC) on Sunday October 4 from 8:30 A.M. until 3:00 P.M. All Clinics except the Timer clinic will be presented. You can pick one in the morning and one in the afternoon or just the morning or the afternoon if you prefer. Morning refreshments and Lunch will be provided. I have a flyer with a map and I will post it on the Officials tab of the LAC website this evening. You must be logged on to get to the Officials tab. Car-pooling is an option if interested.
Speaking of the Officials tab. I am inspecting and reworking that space because some of the information will need to change due to the shutdown of OSOA, and Swim Ontario taking over responsibility for Officiating in Ontario. I will let you know when it is ready and whenever I make more updates as things continue to change.
One of the changes this year includes the requirement for all officials to fill out and sign the Code Of Conduct form and the PIPEDA form. If you are intending to officiate this year and have not filled out both of these forms then please sign in to the LAC site, hover your cursor over the Officials tab, select the form from the drop down, print out the form and drop it in the LAC mailbox at CGAC. If this is not done prior to your first meet or clinic then you will be required to fill it out prior to that event.
The Fall Start Up Meet (formerly known as the October Time Trial) is coming up on October 18. If you would like the opportunity to work any senior position (other than Timer and S&T) then please email me with your request. It is our goal to staff this meet entirely in house.
If you have any questions please contact me, Mark Lukings L.A.C. Co-Club Officials Chair at email@example.com
