Coaches Report

Just a few days until departure for either Etobicoke or Pointe Claire...everyone is excited to see the results of their first training cycle of the year. Many of you have made some serious and significant deposits into the "bank" of preparation...now it is time to make a withdrawal! It's important to remember that the hard work does not guarantee the performance, it simply guarantees the potential for performance. You must still prepare properly on the day at the meet, you need a technical and tactical plan for your race, you must race smart and tough, and you need to BELIEVE! When these factors all come together you should climb out of the pool - exhausted - but extremely satisfied and proud.  Remember to stay flexible...things will be hectic and sometimes will not go according to plan - stay calm, stay cool, stay positive and away from the pool protect your performance as much as possible, fuel properly and get plenty of rest. Finally, help each other succeed, take pride in each other's successes and be supportive and positive when things don't go so well.  Be loud and proud, and remember your team uniform: Thu Day 1: navy “Anytime. Anywhere.” Fri Day 2: orange “Go ahead.Underestimate me.” Sat Day 3: royal “No excuses. No complaints.” Sun Day 4: orange same as Day 2.

CONGRATULATIONS to Maggie and Jessica for their great swims at the Ontario Junior International last weekend at the Pan-Am Pool in Scarborough. Swimming on Team Ontario relays Maggie collected 2 gold and 1 silver medal, while in her individual events she placed 4th twice and had 3 other top 8 finishes, establishing club records in every event in both the 15/17 and open age categories and swimming under the old Ontario record in both the 100FL and 200IM. Jessica swam to personal bests in 4 of 5 events and placed 7th in the B final of the 200BK, establishing a club record in the process. Way to go girls!

The LAC Holiday Invitational is coming up on December 19.  If you are interested in trying a senior official position and you have taken the clinic, please contact Saad Aldin at saldin@rogers.com  Let Saad know your level of experience so that he will know whether to pair you with a mentor or not.  The sign-ups for minor officials will also be posted soon.  We will have slots available for people who have NEVER done strokes and turns before and would like to try it with a mentor.  Please do not sign up for these novice positions if you are experienced.
