Coaches Report

CONGRATULATIONS to our 84 swimmers who raced in Brantford at Regionals. We were the overall team champions, due in large part to the great spirit and camaraderie amongst our swimmers, and of course some tough, smart, determined racing. LAC swimmers achieved over 250 personal bests throughout the meet (55%), and 14 swimmers swam to 100% PB's; led by Sarah Tyrell's 7 gold medal performance, 28 LAC'ers collected a total of 93 medals in individual events (35G-24S-34B) and 4 medals in relays (2G-2B); another 28 swimmers placed in the top 8 in an individual event, thereby scoring points for the team; 3 swimmers earned their first-ever Provincial qualifying time - CONGRATULATIONS to Lauren Campbell, Duncan Shearer, and Madelaine Shoemaker on that achievement; and 12 year old Carter Buck cracked into the LAC All-Time Top 10 for the first time, in 3 different events. These are some of the highlights of a great weekend of racing - for more details check the "What's New" section of the website.

We have 18 swimmers travelling to Ottawa this week for the Provincial Long Course Championships, and Maggie MacNeil in Orlando for the Arena Pro Swim event - good luck to all of you. Finally, we are coming to the close of the winter season, take a few moments over the March Break to think about your goals for the spring and summer season - it is much shorter than the winter season. When you return from the Break it's only 8 weeks until our Hollandia Invitational, 11 weeks until Regionals, and 15 weeks until Provincials. When you're thinking about your goals remember to "DREAM BIG", and when you return to the pool on March 21 get right back to work on your LAC-PAC for Excellence:

PRIZE #2: All LAC swimmers that raise money for Swim-a-thon will receive a LAC key chain to hang on their swim bag.

PRIZE #3: All LAC swimmers that raise more than $100 will be entered in a draw for prizes donated by friends of LAC. The list of prizes includes gift cards, LAC spirit wear donated by Churchill Sports and Promotions and TNT Shirts, as well we have some prizes from Team Aquatic Supplies.

Swim-a-thon will take the place of our regular practices on Sat April 2, so please sign your swimmer up, every dollar counts. We are almost at the $3000 mark, so sign your swimmer up and help us get push that dollar amount up.

It’s Official!

The LAC Long Course Pentathlon is on March 25.  If you have taken the clinic and are interested in working as a senior official to get some experience then please contact Bonnie Marceau at   If it is your first time doing the job and would like a mentor then please let Bonnie know.

Alex Vanderkam is our Competition Coordinator for Hollandia in May.  If you are interested in working in specific senior positions at this meet, it is NOT too soon to let Alex know.  People from other clubs are already approaching him to work at this very popular meet.

A small change in clinic plans due to the March break. I will be scheduling clinics between now and Hollandia in May.  The immediate focus is to support people striving for level 2 and 3. Since a requirement to achieve level 3 is to teach the Intro to Swimming clinic, there may be one of these in March prior to the Pentathlon.  The focus for now will be on clinics for senior positions, but everyone is welcome to attend.  Please let me know if you have any specific needs.  Strokes and Turns will be held in late April to support our needs for Hollandia in May, the Sting meet in June and the Paul Hauch meet in July.  Watch here and in the event space on the LAC website for specific dates.
