Sat Apr 9 No yoga for Age Group Blue & Bronze - Blue will swim 6:00-7:30 and Bronze will swim 7:30-9:00 am.
Effective Tue Mar 29 Senior Gold and Senior Silver Tue evening practice is from 3-4:30pm (water), with dryland continuing at the regular time post-water.
Just a reminder to everyone to get involved in our SWIMATHON campaign in these final days. While the actual swimming will take place this Saturday (see below for details) pledges can be collected until April 30. The success of last year's campaign enabled us to purchase the 8 new start blocks and 9 backstroke ledges that you used last Friday at the Pentathlon. We have plans for more equipment/technology upgrades that will directly service our swimmers!
Here's yet another great suggestion from Olivier Leroy-Poirier on the SWIMSWAM website that is very applicable to your swimming as we embark on the second phase of the 2015-16 season:
Starting Your Workout Is All That Really Matters
This is probably the single biggest piece of advice that will help you move closer to your goals. How often have you had a wildly ambitious goal for your swimming, but pull up before the hard work begins? Perhaps you start to think you’ve bitten off more than you can chew. Or the scope of the work is paralyzing. Or you thought it would be easier.
To combat this paralysis make starting that tough workout the only goal. Don’t even think about finishing it, or how much effort is required to do it, or anything else. Make the goal starting that first rep, and absolutely nothing else. When you make starting the goal, no matter how small or outwardly frivolous the step may seem, you set off something in your brain that is almost guaranteed to take you the rest of the way. Why is this?
Because your brain goes absolutely mental when it comes to unfinished tasks. It’s why, once you start a really hard set, it becomes harder to quit than to finish. It’s why you end up telling yourself, “Well, hey! That wasn’t so bad!” after a hard workout. And it’s the same function that causes you regret at other things you haven’t completed or finished in your past.
Starting is the whole ball game. Make your goal to do the warm-up, or just the first rep of that tough set. The momentum and need-to-complete will take you home!

LAC 2016 Summer Swim Camp
Information and sign-up for Swim Camp is now available on the LAC website under the “events” section. Swim Camp will run from Monday July 4th-Thursday July 7th and is available to any LAC swimmers born in 2004 or later. Sign up will be available until June 1st or until camp is filled.

WOSA LC Championships Windsor
We are going to offer team travel for the WOSA championships in Windsor the weekend of June 3 -5. The cost would be approximately $250 for the weekend including; meals, accommodations and transportation. When the sign up is posted please indicate “team travel” in the comment box.
PRIZE #1: PIZZA PARTY FOR THE TOP 12 FUNDRAISERS!
PRIZE #2: All LAC swimmers that raise money for Swim-a-thon will receive a LAC key chain to hang on their swim bag.
PRIZE #3: All LAC swimmers that raise more than $100 will be entered in a draw for prizes donated by friends of LAC. The list of prizes includes gift cards, LAC spirit wear donated by Churchill Sports and Promotions and TNT Shirts, as well we have some prizes from Team Aquatic Supplies.
Swim-a-thon will take the place of our regular practices on Sat April 2, all LAC swimmers will participate during their workout. We are just over the $5500 mark and climbing, so sign your swimmer up and help us get push that dollar amount up. Thank you to Sam Elkami ($580), Alex Lobo ($580), Ryan Ellig ($405), Melissa Ellig ($405) and Hilary Bruce ($350) our top 5 fundraisers. Congratulations to Age Group Orange for having the most swimmers registered for the event. You can continue to collect pledges until April 30.

Congratulations to everyone on a successful Pentathlon on Friday. I received lots of positive comments from people indicating how well organized the meet was and how smoothly it ran. Of course this is a tribute to our Meet Manager, Martin Troughton, and our Competition Coordinator, Bonnie Marceau (St. Thomas) but it also reflects well on each and every one of our dedicated officiating volunteers. Thank you to everyone for a job well done. The new backstroke ledges did not phase you one bit!
Congratulations to Martin Troughton on Achieving Officiating Level II by managing his second meet! 3 clinics taken with 2 deck sign-offs for each is all that it takes. Timing, strokes and turns, and one other position. Thank you for helping the club in this way too Martin!
