Coaches Report

CONGRATULATIONS to our swimmers who raced at the Sting Meet – there has been much improvement in skill and technique by many of you...starts, turns, clean swimming, and also plenty of smart tough racing. Many of you swam 3 races in each session, without a lot of rest in between, and stood up each time ready to put your very best effort forward. It was yet another “Triple E” display...Enthusiasm, Effort, and Execution. Well done, and special CONGRATULATIONS to first-time Regional Championship qualifiers David Fang and Jacob Seddon, and belated CONGRATULATIONS to first time Regional Championship qualifier Alyssa Ball.

Good luck to our 16 swimmers competing at the Ontario 13&Under Festival this weekend in Etobicoke.

The LAC Board of Directors extends an invitation to all LAC parents to attend the upcoming Annual General Meeting of the Club. The AGM will be held on Monday, June 20th, 2016 beginning at 7.00 pm at the Canada Games Aquatic Centre in the upper level meeting room. Attendance is not mandatory; however, we encourage at least one member of each swim family to attend this very informative evening and earn one session credit for doing so. New swim families will receive one session credit that may be applied next season.

Further information including a copy of the Minutes from the 2015 AGM and a proxy for 2015 is posted on the website under the Events tab.

It’s Official!

Congratulations to first time Meet Manager Trevor Pool and Meet Referee Greg Lewis on a job well done with the WOSA Sting Meet this past weekend.  Thank you to everyone who came out to make sure that the two sessions ran well for our up and coming swimmers.  Special thanks to the out of town Senior Officials who came out to assist!

We have one more meet left to host!  The Dr. Paul Hauch Invitational (July 8-10) will require Senior Officials (who are other than Strokes and turns and Timekeepers) and for every one of those jobs we have an opportunity to mentor someone who has taken the clinic but has not yet tried the job.  If you are interested in working, or mentoring in, a Senior Official position at the Hauch meet, please email me.  It is never too soon to reserve your spot for one of these jobs at an upcoming meet.  I have had some requests already so please get your requests to me as soon as you can!

I am still planning on hosting 1 or 2 more Introduction to Swimming Clinics (formerly known as the Timer clinic) closer to the Hauch meet to allow people to fulfill their obligation to have that clinic completed in their first season. Dates to come soon.  Timing can be done without the clinic but the clinic covers much more than timing and that is why the LAC registration package indicates that this clinic is a requirement.  If you have a desire for another course and you have been unable to attend the previous clinics this year, please let me know, and I will see what I can do, if the demand is sufficient.

We will be needing Meet Managers for next season and we need to have those arranged before the end of THIS season.  If you are interested, even if you have not taken the clinic, please let me know and I will pass that information along.  If we get enough interest, we will have Meet Management teams, where it makes sense.  There is a lot of help available for all Meet Managers so do not be afraid.  If you like organizing things and are willing to learn, you can be a Meet Manager.

If you have any questions please contact me, Mark Lukings L.A.C. Co-Club Officials Chair at

There is a FAQ page on the LAC website under the “parent info” tab under “session credits”. Please make sure you know your obligation for this swim season.
