WELCOME BACK everyone! We trust that everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable summer, and also trust that you are all ready and eager to have fun working hard toward your 2016-17 goals.

The first few weeks of the year are always an exciting time, as many of you get re-acquainted with your swimming family, and another large group of you (first-time LAC'ers) become familiar with our great club and great sport. Swimmers, make sure in these early days that you are giving the coaches your undivided attention, listen with your ears and your eyes, pay close attention to your coaches instructions, and make sure you are focussing on the basics: ready position on the wall, push-offs, streamlines, underwater kicks, and head & body position. The time is now to either polish up or re-work your technique and the small details. If you can hardwire good technique now, it will become almost automatic later.

CONGRATULATIONS to Devin Gotell on his recent Rio Paralympic performances, in particular his finals appearance in the 100m backstroke, and to Maggie MacNeil for her 5th place finish in the 100m butterfly at the Junior Pan-Pacific Championships in Hawaii in late August.

Welcome to new LAC coaches Jacob Kukovica, Aileen McAleese, Lexi Meklensek, Katie Flannery, Amy Callon and Menley Langham. You will be able to access bios on each of our coaches through the "Coaches" section of the website. Sadly we must say goodbye to Amanda Mitchell, Shannon Nell, Katelyn Dickey, Kristen Estabrooks and Madison Boon, all of whom have had to step away from coaching due to various school and work commitments - many sincere thanks to all of you for your tireless and enthusiastic work on behalf of the club and its swimmers.

Two-time Olympic medalist Ryan is coming to London on Tue.Sept.27 from 3-4:30pm at the Canada Games Aquatic Centre to speak with our Senior swimmers as well as any interested Age Group Gold and Silver swimmers. If you have not yet signed up for this great opportunity to meet one of Canada's most celebrated Olympians, you can do so on the main page of the website, under the Team Events tab. Info on the event can be found here . The cost is $75 per swimmer, $15 of which will be subsidized by the club. The $60 cost per swimmer will be billed to family travel accounts.

Wed Sept 28    5:45 - 6:45 pm at CGAC

Thurs Sept 29  4:30 - 5:30 pm at CHOCC

New parents are encouraged to attend one of these two meetings.

London Aquatic Club does monthly Bingo's. If you would like to join the Bingo committee please contact Donna at for further information.

If anyone has photos from last year's swim season that you would like to include in our slideshow at the Banquet, please forward them to
Jane will be coming out to a few practices for our younger groups to take some photos so we can be sure that everyone gets a chance to see their picture on the screen!  If you would prefer NOT to have your child's photo taken, please notify Jane or your child's coach.
Thank you.

Hello to returning and to brand new LAC families and welcome to the 2016/17 season!  I am Mark Lukings, one of two Club Officials Chairs who are in charge of making sure that we have all of the officials that are required to run our meets.

If you watched any of the television coverage of the Olympic swimming events, the officials were the folks in the blue jackets.  If you thought there were a lot of them then you haven’t seen anything yet!  Meets at that level have a great deal of technology that, even a large club like ours, could never afford and so we have to substitute in humans for tech.  Non-National meets require a lot more help to run them!

We have a slightly busier LAC hosted meet season this year with the addition of the Western Region Short Course Championship to our regular schedule of LAC meets.

To support all of these LAC hosted meets I will be scheduling officiating clinics in October and November to start preparing the officials that we will need.  For those of you who are new to swimming, I encourage new LAC families to get started by coming out to the Introduction to Swimming Officiating clinics that will be offered in October and/or November.  In this clinic you will be taught the basics of officiating and the specifics of the first position, timing.  This is the clinic that was mentioned in the registration material as being required for all new LAC families. I am looking forward to meeting you there.

There will be a Regional clinic day in the Cambridge area in early October. More details will follow as soon as they are available.

All level 3, 4, and 5 officials are invited to the Annual Officials Seminar in Toronto on October 1 from 1 to 4 PM. Please see the Swim Ontario website for more information and on-line registration.

If you have any officiating questions please contact me, Mark Lukings L.A.C. Co-Club Officials Chair at
