Mon Oct 10 No workouts – Happy Thanksgiving

As you all take the first steps on your 2016-17 swimming journey, it's important to remember that every journey needs a destination. Hopefully you all have some clear goals in mind. A goal is not something you HOPE for, it is something you WORK for! Hope is not a strategy- constant, consistent effort and attention to the details IS a strategy, and a good one.

When we set goals they seem shiny, perfect and glossy - but we must be willing to accept that the road to achieving them will be filled with challenges, both expected and unexpected. Walls will rise up in front of you and people will say "You can't do that." Accept that things will not go according to plan, that the path will be sometimes bumpy and lonely, and will not be straight. If you are able to do this, yet continue to work constantly and consistently, paying attention to the details, and staying positive, then you will be one step closer to successfully achieving your goals.

Wed Sept 28    5:45 - 6:45 pm at CGAC

Thurs Sept 29  4:30 - 5:30 pm at CHOCC

New parents are encouraged to attend one of these two meetings.

Those of you who won annual trophies last year for Most Improved Swimmer please return them to your coach ASAP. If anyone has photos from last year's swim season that you would like to include in our slideshow at the Banquet, please forward them to

Jane will be coming out to a few practices for our younger groups to take some photos so we can be sure that everyone gets a chance to see their picture on the screen!  If you would prefer NOT to have your child's photo taken, please notify Jane or your child's coach.

Sign up for the banquet is available under “events” on the LAC website. Please indicate the number of people in your party (including your swimmer/s) in the comment box.

We are officially launching our equipment website within the Team Aquatic Supplies site. We will be transitioning to only using the site for our clubs equipment needs. You will be able to find the groups within the club and the coordinating equipment required. Each page also includes a recommendation for optional bathing suits, caps, and goggles. Please note that if you are purchasing a snorkel please make sure you select the adult size.Futher instructions can be found on the LAC website under “Swimmers A/C” under the “LAC swim equipment” tab. When you place an order it will ship directly to your home.

Swimmers will now need a TAS shark card to receive discounts when purchasing Team Aquatic Supplies merchandise at swim meets or in their stores. The shark card can also be found on the LAC website under “Swimmers A/C” under the “LAC swim equipment” tab.

If you have any equipment questions please contact

I have just a couple of things to focus on this week.

The LAC – Fall Start-Up Meet is coming up on the morning of Sunday, October 16.  We will need senior officials.  If you have taken the clinic and need experience as Clerk of Course, Chief Finish Judge, Recorder Scorer, or Starter, or if you have experience and just want to do the job, we need you.  Referee and Chief Timekeeper have already been assigned.   We also need someone to run the electronic timing system.  If you have done this job before, and want to do it again at this meet, we need you.  If you are interested in learning, we need you too!  The Timing System Operator is learned on-the-job.  Now is your chance.  To help with any of these Senior officiating roles, please contact our Competition Coordinator, Alex Vanderkam at

By the way, it is not too soon to let me, the Competition Coordinator for the LAC Nothers Fall Invitational, know if you want to work senior positions at that meet.  I have already had requests for some of these jobs!

As a new Swimming Parent or Sibling you may have many questions about how you can help.  The Introduction to Swimming Clinic is designed to give you a basic understanding of officiating, the different officials on deck, how a swim meet is run, how you can earn session credits, how you can progress as an official, and everything you need to know about the first and most important officiating position for the swimmers, the Timekeeper. I will be scheduling 2 or 3 of these clinics between now and the LAC Nothers Fall Invitational on the weekend of November 25 to 27.  Please come out and learn how to get started!  They will be scheduled shortly and sign-ups will be posted on this web site.

If you have any officiating questions please contact me, Mark Lukings L.A.C. Co-Club Officials Chair at
