Olivier Poirier-Leroy is the founder/owner of, a great resource for addressing some of the mental aspects of our very demanding sport. We will provide some of Olivier's insights periodically through our Coaches Report. This week we share Olivier's thoughts on being a great teammate:

Although each swimmer on a team or in a group has a different role, specialty or set of goals, there is one universal responsibility every swimmer has: to be an awesome teammate. Being a fantastic teammate goes beyond counting laps, or cheering, or being all “rah-rah” in the middle of practice. It’s also about the little things that happen in training, like showing up on time, setting a good example, and challenging your teammates with your effort. After all, the wake that is created by one swimmer who aspires to great things can be powerful, but the wave that follows a group of swimmers all pushing each other to excellence is unstoppable.

Returning swim families should receive their swimmer statements October 5th, if you do not receive one please contact Donna at All new LAC swim families should have their Sept 30 and Oct 15 payments in to the club by now if you have any questions or concerns contact Donna.

Those of you who won annual trophies last year for Most Improved Swimmer please return them to your coach ASAP.

Sign up for the banquet is available under “events” on the LAC website. Please indicate the number of people in your party (including your swimmer/s) in the comment box.

Any one interested in joining the canteen committee there will be a meeting on October 14 at CGAC at 5:00 pm in the upstairs meeting room. Please contact Sue Flannery our Canteen Co-ordinator if you have any questions

We are officially launching our equipment website within the Team Aquatic Supplies site. We will be transitioning to only using the site for our clubs equipment needs. You will be able to find the groups within the club and the coordinating equipment required. Each page also includes a recommendation for optional bathing suits, caps, and goggles. Please note that if you are purchasing a snorkel please make sure you select the adult size.Futher instructions can be found on the LAC website under “Swimmers A/C” under the “LAC swim equipment” tab. When you place an order it will ship directly to your home.

Swimmers will now need a TAS shark card to receive discounts when purchasing Team Aquatic Supplies merchandise at swim meets or in their stores. The shark card can also be found on the LAC website under “Swimmers A/C” under the “LAC swim equipment” tab.

If you have any equipment questions please contact

The LAC – Fall Start-Up Meet is coming up on the morning of Sunday, October 16.  We will need senior officials.  If you have taken the clinic and need experience as Clerk of Course, Chief Finish Judge, Recorder Scorer, or Starter, or if you have experience and just want to do the job, we need you.  Referee and Chief Timekeeper have already been assigned.   We also need someone to run the electronic timing system.  If you have done this job before, and want to do it again at this meet, we need you.  If you are interested in learning, we need you too!  The Timing System Operator is learned on-the-job.  Now is your chance.  To help with any of these Senior officiating roles, please contact our Competition Coordinator, Alex Vanderkam at

By the way, it is not too soon to let me, the Competition Coordinator for the LAC Nothers Fall Invitational, know if you want to work senior positions at that meet.  I have already had requests for some of these jobs!

New swimming parents and/or siblings may have questions about how you can help.  The Introduction to Swimming Clinic is designed to give you a basic understanding of officiating, the different officials on deck, how a swim meet is run, how you can earn session credits, how you can progress as an official, and everything you need to know about the first and most important officiating position for the swimmers, the Timekeeper. I will be scheduling 2 or 3 of these clinics between now and the LAC Nothers Fall Invitational on the weekend of November 25 to 27.  Please come out and learn how to get started!  They will be scheduled shortly and sign-ups will be posted on this web site.

If you have any officiating questions please contact me, Mark Lukings L.A.C. Co-Club Officials Chair at
