There has been a change to the South West Aquatics Meet in Tillsonburg, it will now run on 2 days only, Saturday Nov 5 and Sunday Nov 6.

Congratulations to everyone on some great time trial racing and on your great and many accomplishments in 2015-16, as recognized at our annual banquet.

The banquet always signals the next phase of our swimming year. The hectic start-up and registration process is behind us, we took one last look back at 2015-16, and now it is time to look resolutely, determinedly, and confidently forward as we embark on the next big block of training, before we head into our fall racing season. It's time to "BRING IT ON." Our banquet guest speaker, Olympic bronze medalist Michelle Williams, made many great points in her talk to us about her journey. Three that should resonate most clearly and deeply:

1) appreciate your "silent warrior" parents for the sacrifices they make so that you can pursue your swimming dreams. THANK YOU PARENTS!

2) the best swimmers take ownership of their swimming in every aspect. No one is lucky enough to have their own personal coach walking up and down the pool deck beside them for every meter of every practice. Work on your streamlines, your underwater kicks, and your stroke counts, especially when no one is watching. There is no consequence, you don't feel pain, or suffer, if you decide to only do 1 dolphin kick off the wall or streamline poorly or take more strokes than you know you should. There's no "falling off the balance beam" or doing a belly flop off the 10m diving platform if a swimmer decides to "mail it in" during practice. A swimmer's consequences only show up at the competition.

3) we can all be 99% Olympians. The Olympics and Paralympics may only happen once every 4 years, but you can lead an Olympic life every single day if you choose. And if you do choose, who knows, maybe one day you will realize the other 1%, just like Michelle did.

Congratulations Club Record-setter Maggie MacNeil.

Congratulations first time Regional Championship qualifiers: Lucas Lin and Naimh O'Leary

Thank you Jane Callon for your work organizing the banquet.

The coaches are well on their way planning the 2017 Florida Training Camp.
We will be hosting a training camp meeting Friday October 21st at 5:30 PM in the CGAC Meeting Room for all parents and swimmers interested. The cost of the camp will be approximately $1650, a deposit of $200 will be due by Friday Oct 28 for any swimmers planning on attending the camp.
Eligible Swimmers: Any Age Group Gold, Any Age Group Silver, Age Group Blue -12&Over
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to email:

Please remember that there are entry fees for each of the swim competitions we attend, with the exception of our start-up time trial. Usually these fees are charged on a "per event" basis and average $8-11 per event. They will be included in your monthly swimmer statements.

We will be placing in a spiritwear order November 1st. This will be the last time before the holiday season. If you wish to place an order please fill in the form found on the LAC website located in “Swimmer A/Cs” under “LAC Swim Equipment” tab. Please put the order form and payment in the LAC mailbox at CGAC.

Orders from September and October have been placed and we are waiting for delivery.

All returning LAC families and families that have transferred to LAC from another SNC club will be responsible to work the following session credits this season. Age Group and Senior families will need 22 session credits and Development families will need 11 session credits.

Session credits information is available on the LAC website under the “Parent Info” tab. If you have any questions please email Donna

All session credits are up to date. The Fall Start Up Meet and Clinics have been posted.

Instructions for ordering swim equipment can be found on the LAC website under “Swimmers A/C” under the “LAC swim equipment” tab. Also found on the website is the TAS shark card, you will need this card when purchasing Team Aquatic Supplies merchandise at swim meets or in their stores.

The Western Region is hosting another day of clinics on Sunday, October 30, 2016.  Registration starts at 8:30AM with Coffee and refreshments. There is a morning session from 9:00 to 11:30 AM, lunch will then be provided followed by the afternoon session from 12:30 to 3:00PM.  The morning session will include your choice of Referee, Clerk of Course, Chief Timekeeper, Recorder Scorer, and Introduction to Swimming Officiating.  The afternoon selection includes Starter, Meet Manager, Judge of Strokes and Turns, and Chief Finish Judge/Chief Judge Electronics.  There is no charge for the day and the event will be held at Conestoga College (Cambridge Campus), 850 Fountain Street South, Cambridge, N3H 0A8  If you would like to attend please let Carol know at  This is a great opportunity for everyone but for anyone striving toward Referee, it is always good to get a number of different perspectives on this job.  There may be car-pooling opportunities if that helps.

I am planning on booking local clinics starting next week but if you can make it to the regional clinic don’t take your chances that the clinic that you want will fit your schedule once I book them.

We are in the process of registering/reactivating officials accounts.  When this is done there is typically a system-generated email from Swim Canada to the official with instructions that you must follow to complete the process.  Please do not ignore these emails.  If you do, it results in a lot of extra work for a few people.  Could you please also check to make sure that the email has not gone into your spam folder?

As mentioned last week, the new dress code comes into play this year. This means white tops and black bottoms for timers and chief timekeepers, red polo shirts and black bottoms for everyone else.  We will be expected to comply starting with Nothers.  With that in mind, Donna and I are working toward offering for sale, Red Polos with either LAC or Swim Canada embroidery on them.  Announcement to come.

I have been getting lots of requests for senior positions from LAC and from out of town officials.  If you are hoping to work one or more senior positions please get to me soon with your availability and job preferences.

If you have any officiating questions please contact me, Mark Lukings L.A.C. Co-Club Officials Chair at
