The SWA team will no longer be running their meet. The SWA Meet November 5 & 6 in Tillsonburg has been cancelled. We will now run our usual workouts for Age Group Blue/Bronze/Orange. The next racing opportunity for these swimmers will be our Nothers Meet.

Some of you will be racing in Scarborough this weekend at the NYAC Cup. Here are some things the coaching staff will be looking for: 1) great team spirit (LOUD & PROUD!) - this includes wearing your team uniform (most notably LAC bathing cap and outer wear, i.e., T-shirt, hoodie); participating in the team cheer; and supporting your teammates every time you see them swimming. Fri is this year's royal T-shirt, Sat is last year's orange T-shirt, Sun is same as Fri.   2) punctuality - "5 minutes early is on time, on time is late, and late is never forgotten." Plan for crazy Toronto traffic. When you walk on deck the first thing you need to do is make contact with your coach, just to say "Hi Coach, I'm here!" Especially if, for whatever reason, you are late. It's OK...we know you won't be late again. At the end of each session communicate with your coach regarding when you are expected to be at the pool next.   3) pre- and post-swim reporting - the last person you see before your swim? your coach. The first person you see after your swim? your coach. 4) good warm-up habits - these include activation, getting in the water on time, completing the warm-up as prescribed by your coach, and asking your coach if there's anything they want to see before you finish your warm-up. A good warm-up will take between 30-45mins (take your time), and ideally it should finish no earlier than 30mins before your first swim.   5) fuelling for performance - good eating and hydration habits, both at and away from the pool, with the main message being: make sure you're eating and drinking enough! 6) RACE SMART, RACE TOUGH, and HAVE FUN! Take one positive from each swim, and one area for improvement, then get ready for the next one! Remember, it can be a good race without being a personal best. And remember as well, we're only 7 weeks into the year, this is not a "championship" event that we have been training for all season - we are using the meet simply as our first opportunity to establish and practice good swim meet protocols.

All 13&over preliminary warm-ups start at 8am (1 hour later), with racing beginning at 9am. Finals on Fri&Sat have a 4pm w-up and a 5pm start (30mins earlier). The 12&under session on Sunday has a 1pm w-up and 2pm start (1 hour later).

Swimmers - Nothers is coming up in a few weeks.   It is our first big meet of the season in our home pool.   Make it yours by letting me know what songs you would like to hear on deck during warm-up throughout the weekend.    Please use this link to register your selections:

I am in the process of compiling my list of senior official volunteers and assigning jobs for Nothers.  If you want to work a senior position, have not already let me know, and will have the clinic before Nothers then please email me now.  The plan is to have the senior officials assigned prior to the sign-ups for minor officials being posted.  Sign-ups for minor officials are typically posted 2 weeks prior to the meet.

Local LAC clinics have been scheduled.  The Introduction to Swimming Officiating clinic is what used to be known as the Level 1 Timekeeper and Safety Marshall Clinic.  The CFJ and CJE clinics are scheduled together because they have convenient learning overlaps.  This makes for a long clinic but it IS considered 2clinics for session credit purposes.  The most common positions that candidates use to get to Level II are Chief Timekeeper and Clerk Of Course.  These have been scheduled one after the other the same night.  Hopefully those aspiring to level II can make it to one or both of these.  If not, one of the other clinics can work just as well for your third position.  Note that the Starter Clinic is for the person who says ‘Take your marks.’  All of these clinics are at CGAC in either the Ground Floor or the Lower Level Meeting Rooms.  Sign-ups have been posted.  BTW, it is not a coincidence that 6 positions are required for Level III, and I have 6 clinics scheduled!  Please sign-up if interested.  I need to know what to bring.  I have also had interest from other clubs in attending our clinics.  If there is room, I am letting them in.
