COACHES REPORT

There was some very good swimming at the Pentathlon this past Sunday, with lots of pb's recorded, and many of you swimming races over the 50 meter (long course) pool distance for the first time. Congratulations especially to those of you who successfully raced all 5 events in the Pentathlon - 2 characteristics of champion swimmers are durability (the ability and willingness to swim multiple events, give your very best effort in all of them, and not let one race affect the next one) and versatility (the ability and willingness to swim all the strokes over all the distances). If you swam all 5 events at the Pentathlon you demonstrated both of those championship characteristics, well done.

Special congratulations to first time Provincial Festival qualifier Siporah Sang and to first time Regional qualifiers Isabelle Burton and Lenka Myatt, and also to our Pentathlon High Point Winners: Catharine Robinson (8&Under Girls) - Isabelle Burton (9 Year Old Girls) - Ewan Shearer (9 Year Old Boys) - Niamh O’Leary (10 Year Old Girls) - Nikola Darvill-Kaiser (11 Year Old Girls) - Duncan Shearer (11 Year Old Boys) - Cleo Murphy (12 Year Old Girls) - Junsoo Pak (12 Year Old Boys) - Sonya Demidenok (13 Year Old Girls) - Carter Buck (13 Year Old Boys) - Katie Callon (14 Year Old Girls) - Madeline Cliche (15 Year Old Girls) - Sam Cormier (15 Year Old Boys) - Madelaine Shoemaker (16 Year Old Girls) - Michael Quigley (16 Year Old Boys) - Menley Langham (17& Over Girls) - Dominic Cappa (17& Over Boys)

Congratulations also to Maggie MacNeil for her results at the World Championship Trials in Victoria - Maggie finished 5th in both the 100m and 200m butterfly events, and set new club records in 3 events.

IT’S OFFICIAL!

LAC Pentathlon April 9 – Congratulations and thank you to Michael Mohammed, our Meet Manager, and Bonnie Marceau, our Competition Coordinator, on a very well run meet on Sunday.  Nice and relaxed.  Everyone seemed to have fun.  Excellent start to the Long Course season.  Thanks to all of our volunteers!  Every one of you plays an essential role in creating a great meet!  We also had over 40 people receive successful deck evaluations on Sunday.  If you were a timer, you may not have even known that you were being evaluated!  Excellent work officials!

New Level 2 Officials – Congratulations to Al Pierre and Thierry Joulin on receiving their final sign-off to advance to level 2 officials.  Thank you, and great job guys!

LAC Hollandia Invitational May 12-14 - If you're interested in working senior official positions (other than Timer or Strokes&Turns) please contact the Competition Co-ordinator Greg Lewis (britshay@sympatico.ca) to reserve your spot. Provide Greg with the position(s) you'd like to try, the session(s) you can attend, and if you would like a mentor.

Clinics - There will be a final round of clinics starting after Easter weekend. Watch for notice and sign-ups. They will be on Friday nights and weekends due to my work schedule.
