CONGRATULATIONS to all swimmers who participated in SWIM-A-THON last Friday, and in particular the 59 of you who have raised money for the club. All of the money raised will be re-invested in your pursuit of future great results. Speaking of great, here's an excerpt from Olivier Poirier-Leroy regarding the concept of perfection:

Results come because you are good a lot, not because you are perfect sometimes.

I will admit that I have caught myself wearing the perfectionist outlook numerous times over the years. I mistakenly told myself that every workout had to be a 10 out of 10, took the bad swims personally, and valued myself far too much on what I accomplished in the pool. The reality is this: Not every workout will go perfectly. Not every race will go according to plan. Mistakes, DQ’s and suit rips will happen. And your self-esteem should not entirely rest on what you do with your swimming. When we learn to chase greatness instead of perfection in the pool, and in life, we discover that we are more resilient to failure by creating more realistic goals. By chasing 8’s and 9’s in practice we make far more progress as opposed to expecting every workout to be an elusive (and impossible) 10. Chase goals that are challenging, yet realistic, and the accomplishment of them will push us even further.

LAC Hollandia Invitational May 12-14 - If you're interested in working senior official positions please contact the Competition Coordinator Greg Lewis ( to reserve your spot. Provide Greg with the position(s) that you'd like to try, the session(s) you can attend, and if you would like a mentor. Senior Officials are everything EXCEPT Timers and Strokes & Turns on the Start or Turn end.  The Side Stroke Judges ARE senior positions and will be assigned by Greg.

Clinics – I have arranged clinics as shown below. They will all be held at the Canada Games Aquatic Centre.  If you do not know what these positions are and would like more information, sign in to the LAC website, hover your cursor over the Officials tab near the top of the home page, then select Levels/Positions from the dropdown.  The ground floor meeting room is on the entrance level and the pool level meeting room is at the bottom of the stairs.  Please sign-up so I know how many to expect and do your best to show up on time.  Each clinic taken for the first time earns a session credit.
