July 3

We are on the 2nd summer schedule July 1-14 which is posted on the LAC website under the “Schedules” tab.

Sat Jul 8 Age Group Gold/Silver 7:00 - 8:00 am THAMES

Congratulations to our 28 Provincial and AA swimmers, all of whom raced very well in Scarborough at the Pan-Am Pool. Our provincial squad ended up in 10th place in the team standings, led by David Hickey's 5 medal performance, including 1 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze medals. Maggie MacNeil collected 4 medals (1 gold, 1 silver, 2 bronze) and Carter Buck raced to three bronze medal finishes. Six other swimmers placed in the top 10 in individual events, and five relay teams also placed in the top 10. Our team spirit was excellent over the course of a long weekend of racing. Special congratulations go to first time Canadian Swimming Championships (senior national) qualifier David Hickey,  first time Eastern Canadian Championship qualifiers Sasha Goodreau and Sarah Tyrrell, and first time all time top 10 performer Eleonora Pierre.  Many many thanks to Jane Callon for doing a fantastic job looking after our athletes when they were away from the pool. For most of you the Hauch Meet in 2 weeks will signal the end of your season - enjoy your last days of training for the year, but keep your focus and plan to swim fast outdoors at Thames Park.

July statements will be sent out after Paul Hauch Swim Meet on the 17th or 18th. These will include any meet fees from June and/or July. If you have any concerns with your statement please email Donna at by Sunday July 23. PAD’s will be withdrawn on the 25th.

The last day of swimming for the 2016-17 season is at the Paul Hauch Swim Meet July16, except for those swimmer’s qualified for the Canadian Jr/Sr Championships. Group placements and registration information for the 2017-18 season will be emailed by the beginning of August at which time on line registration will open. The 2017-18 season will begin Monday September 18 (there will be some pre-season workouts for Senior Gold/Silver the week of September 11). New swimmer assessments will be September 12 and 14 at CHOCC.

Our Hauch meet is fast approaching and in keeping with tradition we will be doing our famous bell heats. Instead of asking for a food donation for this meet, each family will be asked to donate $10 worth of prizes (broken up into smaller prize amounts if possible to spread the prizes out further.) Examples from previous years are $5 gift cards, Towels, Water bottles and a variety of fun toys for the kids to play with around the pool for the day.
When you have your prizes please bring them to your coach or Jane Callon. Please make sure to attach a swim family name when handing in your prizes.

This year we will be running a BBQ fundraiser during the Paul Hauch Invitational. We need parent volunteers to show off their hamburger and hotdog flipping skills. BBQ shifts are 2:30-6:30pm Friday, 10:30am-2:30pm and 2:30-6:30pm on both Saturday and Sunday. There is a particular need during the afternoon shifts. Anyone willing to help out please contact Jan Tebbutt at

Dr. Paul Hauch Invitational (July 14 to 16): We are pretty much set for Senior Officials for Hauch.  If I have an emergency I will be contacting people directly.  The focus now turns to minor officials.  The sign-ups are posted and open for you to volunteer.  Please do not hesitate to do so.  We happily take help from people who have already fulfilled their session credit obligation!  In fact, based on past experience, we will not be able to run this meet without your help.  This is the time of year where true volunteerism comes in!

Meet Managers for the 2017-18 Season: I am still looking for meet managers for next season.  I have had a few offers and I am still waiting for this season’s meet managers to get back to me but I will soon be contacting additional people directly.   If you were hoping to get started on Meet manager, with higher officiating levels in mind, please get back me using the email address below.  We are still very short and it will be healthy for the club if we can develop new meet managers.  We are hosting the Western Region Short Course Championships again this year.  With this extra meet, we need extra help!

If you have any officiating questions please contact me, Mark Lukings L.A.C. Co-Club Officials Chair at
