COACHES REPORT

This weekend is our Hollandia Invitational - swimmers, please remember and follow some standard meet protocols: be on time, warm up well, see your coach before and after each race, stay warm and hydrated and fueled, and HAVE FUN! There’s something good in every race, something to improve on in every race, and another race coming up soon, so stay positive, stay focused and stick to thinking about one race only...the next one!. This weekend's T-shirt rotation: navy on Friday, orange on Saturday, and royal  on Sunday. Everyone should also be wearing the team bathing cap, and get in the habit of wearing comfortable deck shoes that will help you retain body heat. But no walking in the mud in your deck shoes, they are for the pool deck only! This is "our house", so let's show lots of spirit on the deck, and lots of pride in the water. Whether you are racing for 1st or racing for 7th, race SMART and race TOUGH! GO LAC GO!

IT’S OFFICIAL!

WE NEED OFFICIALS! - LAC Hollandia Spring Invitational - May 11 to 13

Hollandia is this weekend and the sign-up pages for officials speak for themselves.  Most of the sessions can still use people but as of last night we cannot run most of the sessions on Friday, and Sunday afternoon and evening are looking pretty tough as well.  We really need your help.  Please do not wait and hope that someone else will do it.  For those who have already completed their session credits, “Thank you!”, but the session credits are a minimum expectation, there are times when we could still use your help.  This appears to be one of those times.  If you have not fulfilled your session credit obligation, you might want to consider getting some done at this meet, rather than waiting for Hauch in July.

We could also still use some senior officials on Sunday afternoon and evening.  If you are not already working those sessions, have taken clinic(s) for senior positions and are willing to help, please contact Greg Lewis at britshay@sympatico.ca with the sessions and the jobs that you would like to work.  If you would like a mentor for any of the jobs please indicate that and, if you are looking for a sign-off, please let Greg know that as well.

Calling Out For 2018-2019 Meet Managers

This is an initial call out for people who might have an interest in taking on the role of Meet Manager for one or more of our LAC hosted Time Trials or Swim Meets.  This job involves some learning and you will find that there is a group of people who are enthusiastically waiting to help you learn the details.  We also have a wonderful group of committees who shoulder a bunch of the work.  This is a job that can be shared by two or more people, if that works for you.  Meet Management by Team is something that most clubs are doing and we also encourage.  Meet Manager can be a very rewarding experience and, depending on the size of the meet, there can be quite a number of session credits available.  If you are interested or you have questions, please let me know.  I will be having a Meet Manager and a Referee clinic in the near future.

If you have any officiating questions please contact me, Mark Lukings L.A.C. Co-Club Officials Chair at lac.coc@gmail.com

LAC SPIRITWEAR ORDERS

The next order will be May 8. If you would like to place an order please print off the form on the LAC website under the "Swimmer Info" tab under the "LAC Swim Equipment" tab. Complete the order form and deposit it in the LAC mailbox at CGAC. Please include the payment with the order (cheques made out to London Aquatic Club). The next order date will be in March.

LAC SESSION CREDITS

Club hosted meets help to reduce membership fees by 20-25% as well as reducing travel costs by attending fewer out-of-town meets. To ensure the Club has sufficient resources to host meets, most LAC swim families are required to work a minimum of 22 sessionsduring club hosted meets (please see below for exceptions). These sessions may be worked through officiating or working at the club’s food canteen, awards or other positions. Any unfulfilled session credits will be billed at a rate of $40.00 per session to the swim family’s Swimmer Account at the end of the season. Please note that this is not meant to be a “fundraiser” but rather an incentive to participate in the running of home meets. Swim families may receive up to 5 donated session credits from another club family to complete their credits, however any more than the 5 donated session credits must be approved by the board. Session commitments are waived for first year swim families with no prior competitive swim club affiliation, as well as for introductory and post-secondary students training full time with the club and for varsity swimmers, although assistance during swim meets from these groups is greatly appreciated.  First year families ARE required to fulfill the LAC orientation program. This includes participating in an Introductory to Swimming clinic during the swim season and a follow up “on-deck” mentoring session.

*** Families of Development swimmers who are not in their first year of competitive swimming who do not have a swimmer in another level are required to fulfill only 11 of the assigned session credits.***

There is a session credit FAQ under the "Parent Info" tab under "Session Credits.
