COACHES REPORT

CONGRATULATIONS to everyone on some great swimming and a tremendous display of team spirit and support (in ALL areas - not just swimming) at our Hollandia Invitational to make the meet once again a great success. While the results have yet to be reviewed at this time we are confident there were many many best times and several first time qualifiers, as well as plenty of medal-winning performances and top 8 finishes.Special congratulations to first-time WOSA Regional Championship qualifiers Kyle Ball, Heather Carr, Beckett Davies, Sam Dworatzek, Charlotte Dyer, Wyatt Ferguson, Andy Li, MacKenzie Romer, and Evan Thomas; to first time Provincial Festival qualifiers Jacqueline Chambers, Andy Lian and Esther Lu; to first time Canadian Junior Championship qualifier Colin Shearer; and to club record setter Carter Buck. If you haven't seen our new club record board at CGAC, check it out! For a more complete review of 2018 Hollandia results stay tuned to the "NEWS" section of the website.  All LAC coaches and swimmers would like to extend a sincere thanks once again to our parents who volunteered hours and hours to make Hollandia great. Special thank yous to co Meet Managers Steve Langham and Ed MacNeil, Competition Co-ordinator Greg Lewis, and Canteen Co-ordinator Lisa Levy.

Hard to believe we are just weeks away from the end of June, the end of the school year, and the championship meets of the long course season. This is the time to really work hard on maintaining your focus and maintaining your work ethic. The time to take your foot off the gas is AFTER you cross the finish line, not as you get closer to it. Keep training well, stay focused on the little things, stay BIG and stay STRONG for your teammates, make sure you are taking care of yourself away from the pool, and also make sure that with the warmer weather (finally! yay!) you are wearing your sunscreen.

SATURDAY JUNE 9 BINGO

We need a few volunteers for the Sat June 9 Bingo (1 session credit), please contact Donna at lacmembership01@gmail.com if you are interested in volunteering.

LAC ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The LAC Board of Directors extends an invitation to all LAC parents to attend the upcoming Annual General Meeting of the Club. The AGM will be held on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 beginning at 7.00 pm at the Canada Games Aquatic Centre in the upper level meeting room. Attendance is not mandatory; however, we encourage at least one member of each swim family to attend this very informative evening and earn one session credit for doing so. New swim families will receive one session credit that may be applied next season.

Further information including a copy of the Minutes from the 2017 AGM, Agenda for 2018 meeting and proxy are posted on the website under the Events tab. Please register on the Events sign up page.

If you have any questions or additions to the agenda please contact me at gshoemaker@rogers.com

LAC SESSION CREDITS

Club hosted meets help to reduce membership fees by 20-25% as well as reducing travel costs by attending fewer out-of-town meets. To ensure the Club has sufficient resources to host meets, most LAC swim families are required to work a minimum of 22 sessionsduring club hosted meets (please see below for exceptions). These sessions may be worked through officiating or working at the club’s food canteen, awards or other positions. Any unfulfilled session credits will be billed at a rate of $40.00 per session to the swim family’s Swimmer Account at the end of the season. Please note that this is not meant to be a “fundraiser” but rather an incentive to participate in the running of home meets. Swim families may receive up to 5 donated session credits from another club family to complete their credits, however any more than the 5 donated session credits must be approved by the board. Session commitments are waived for first year swim families with no prior competitive swim club affiliation, as well as for introductory and post-secondary students training full time with the club and for varsity swimmers, although assistance during swim meets from these groups is greatly appreciated.  First year families ARE required to fulfill the LAC orientation program. This includes participating in an Introductory to Swimming clinic during the swim season and a follow up “on-deck” mentoring session.

*** Families of Development swimmers who are not in their first year of competitive swimming who do not have a swimmer in another level are required to fulfill only 11 of the assigned session credits.***

There is a session credit FAQ under the "Parent Info" tab under "Session Credits.
