LAC Summer Schedules are posted on the LAC website under the “schedule” tab.

There are two schedules, June 11 – 30 and July 2 – 12. **There have been some revisions to the summer schedules.

CONGRATULATIONS to everyone who swam last weekend at the Regional Championships in Brantford. There was plenty of smart, tough racing throughout the long 3.5 days of competition, and we waged a valiant battle with the Golden Horseshoe Aquatic Club for the overall team championship. The coaches and the Board of Directors want to thank everyone, swimmers and parents alike, for getting behind and supporting our decision to start from the bulkhead in those events which started from the shallow end. It's demonstrations of team cohesion and unity like this that show others just how strong our commitment is to each other. And we're pleased to report that our suggestion even though we might be swimming from behind at the start of shallow end events, because of our fitness and toughness we'd have plenty of time to swim our way back into those races, proved to be true on many different occasions throughout the meet. In fact, our two first time qualifiers, Provincial Festival qualifiers Samantha Elkami and Natalie Skilling, both started off the bulkhead in the shallow end in their Festival-qualifying swims. Way to go girls! Congratulations also to club record setter Andy Lian in the 11/12 boys 50 breaststroke and to first time all time top 10 performer Sasha Goodreau.

While over 100 of you were racing in Brantford, Maggie MacNeil was representing LAC and Team Ontario at the TYR Pro Swim Series in Santa Clara, California at the historic George Haines Aquatic Centre. Maggie raced to a 6th place finish in the 100FL final, as well as setting a club record in the 50FL with a time of 26.99.

Good luck to our swimmers competing at the Summer Festival in Markham this weekend. Lots more racing on the horizon, stay focussed, stay sharp on the little things, and stay confident.

London is embarking on a review of how it designs parks, delivers recreation programs and sports services, and builds facilities. It is looking for input from all interested parties and we, the London Aquatic Club, are certainly an interested party. We would ask all LAC parents to provide input on this master plan, by emailing the Master Plan team at, and stating your strong desire and belief that an expansion to the Canada Games Aquatic Centre is critical to the aquatic needs of the city, with LAC as one of the largest and most important stakeholders in this area. We want to present a unified voice, so please make it clear that you want a CGAC expansion, hopefully including a separate warm-up pool, a deeper shallow end in the existing pool, and more dryland, storage, pool deck and office space. Please make known your desire for an expansion to the Canada Games Aquatic Centre by completing the survey here

Our annual Hauch meet is fast approaching and in keeping with tradition we will be doing our famous bell heats. There are no food donations for this meet, we would like each family to donate $10 worth of prizes (broken up into smaller prize amounts if possible to spread the prizes out further.) Examples from previous years are $5 gift cards, towels, water bottles and a variety of fun toys for the kids to play with around the pool for the day.
When you have your prizes please bring them to your coach or Jane Callon.

The LAC Board of Directors extends an invitation to all LAC parents to attend the upcoming Annual General Meeting of the Club. The AGM will be held on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 beginning at 7.00 pm at the Canada Games Aquatic Centre in the upper level meeting room. Attendance is not mandatory; however, we encourage at least one member of each swim family to attend this very informative evening and earn one session credit for doing so. New swim families will receive one session credit that may be applied next season.

Further information including a copy of the Minutes from the 2017 AGM, Agenda for 2018 meeting and proxy are posted on the website under the Events tab. Please register on the Events sign up page.

If you have any questions or additions to the agenda please contact me at

Gerard Shoemaker, President

June statements were emailed out last week. PAD payments will be withdrawn June 15, if you have any concerns with your statement please email Donna by June 12. Unworked session credits will be billed ($40 per session) after the Dr Paul Hauch Meet and July statements will be sent out after that. If you have any membership concerns, please contact Donna at

Senior Officials for Dr. Paul Hauch Invitational July 13 to 15:  I need senior officials.  If anyone would like to help with senior official positions then the way to sign up is to email me.  Include Hauch in the subject, and let me know the sessions that you are available, and the jobs that you can help with.  So far, I have had very few offers of help. I will be sending an email to non-LAC Western Region senior officials in the next few days and then it could be too late.

Upcoming Clinics: No dates yet but, I will be having a Meet Manager and a Referee clinic prior to the Hauch Meet.  If anyone is interested in the Intro clinic for themselves or for their swimmers or swimmer’s siblings, please let me know.  I have someone who would like to teach it if we have people who want to take it.

Official Registrations:  When we register officials with SNC/Swim Ontario, an email is sent to the official and they must respond by signing on to their SNC account and confirming their information.  We have numerous officials who keep failing when we try to register them because the confirmation never happens.  If you are receiving emails from Swim Canada, please read them and follow the instructions to complete your registration.  If you have anti-spam software, could you please check in the spam folder to see if there are any emails from Swim Canada?

If you have any officiating questions please contact me, Mark Lukings L.A.C. Co-Club Officials Chair at

Club hosted meets help to reduce membership fees by 20-25% as well as reducing travel costs by attending fewer out-of-town meets. To ensure the Club has sufficient resources to host meets, most LAC swim families are required to work a minimum of 22 sessionsduring club hosted meets (please see below for exceptions). These sessions may be worked through officiating or working at the club’s food canteen, awards or other positions. Any unfulfilled session credits will be billed at a rate of $40.00 per session to the swim family’s Swimmer Account at the end of the season. Please note that this is not meant to be a “fundraiser” but rather an incentive to participate in the running of home meets. Swim families may receive up to 5 donated session credits from another club family to complete their credits, however any more than the 5 donated session credits must be approved by the board. Session commitments are waived for first year swim families with no prior competitive swim club affiliation, as well as for introductory and post-secondary students training full time with the club and for varsity swimmers, although assistance during swim meets from these groups is greatly appreciated.  First year families ARE required to fulfill the LAC orientation program. This includes participating in an Introductory to Swimming clinic during the swim season and a follow up “on-deck” mentoring session.

*** Families of Development swimmers who are not in their first year of competitive swimming who do not have a swimmer in another level are required to fulfill only 11 of the assigned session credits.***

There is a session credit FAQ under the "Parent Info" tab under "Session Credits.
