June 18

Friday June 29   NO Senior Bronze/Blue workout due to pool closure.

LAC Summer Schedules are posted on the LAC website under the “schedule” tab.

There are two schedules, June 11 – 30 and July 2 – 12. **There have been some revisions to the summer schedules.

CONGRATULATIONS to our 16 swimmers who raced in Markham last weekend at the Provincial Summer Festival. The team was led by Lauren Campbell, who swam to medal finishes in 3 different events and set a club record in the 11/12 girls 100BR, and by Niamh O'Leary and Siporah Sang, who each cracked into the AllTime Top 10 Performers in the 11/12 girls category. Siporah also achieved her first ever Eastern Canadian Championship time, while Isabel Burton won a bronze medal in the 50FL and Esther Lu finished in the top 8!

It wasn't reported here last week but it's now six, and counting, consecutive Regional Championship team banners after our great performances in Brantford June 7-10. Once again, well done to everyone. By the way, belatedly many sincere thanks to our Brantford chaperone LISA LEVY, who took tremendous care of twenty-four swimmers over 3.5 days all by herself - you rock Lisa!

We are now definitely into the final push of the year. Some of you have major championships on the horizon, while others of you have the Paul Hauch meet to look forward to as your year-end competition. Whatever your focus is, remember that how you finish this year is important to how and where you start next year. Keep a laser-like focus in your training, and for those of you competing at AA's or in Nova Scotia or the national meets later in July, let's prepare for some "next level" swimming! GO LAC GO!

Our annual Hauch meet is fast approaching and in keeping with tradition we will be doing our famous bell heats. There are no food donations for this meet, we would like each family to donate $10 worth of prizes (broken up into smaller prize amounts if possible to spread the prizes out further.) Examples from previous years are $5 gift cards, towels, water bottles and a variety of fun toys for the kids to play with around the pool for the day.
When you have your prizes please bring them to your coach or Jane Callon.

The LAC Board of Directors extends an invitation to all LAC parents to attend the upcoming Annual General Meeting of the Club. The AGM will be held on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 beginning at 7.00 pm at the Canada Games Aquatic Centre in the upper level meeting room. Attendance is not mandatory; however, we encourage at least one member of each swim family to attend this very informative evening and earn one session credit for doing so. New swim families will receive one session credit that may be applied next season.

Further information including a copy of the Minutes from the 2017 AGM, Agenda for 2018 meeting and proxy are posted on the website under the Events tab. Please register on the Events sign up page.

If you have any questions or additions to the agenda please contact me at

Gerard Shoemaker, President

Unworked session credits will be billed ($40 per session) after the Dr Paul Hauch Meet and July statements will be sent out after that. If you have any membership concerns, please contact Donna at

Senior Officials for Dr. Paul Hauch Invitational July 13 to 15:  I need senior officials.  If anyone would like to help with senior official positions then the way to sign up is to email me.  Include Hauch in the subject, and let me know the sessions that you are available, and the jobs that you can help with.  So far, I have had very few offers of help but I am recruiting from outside the club.  Don’t be disappointed.  Email me now.

Upcoming Clinics: No dates yet but, I will be having a Meet Manager and a Referee clinic prior to the Hauch Meet.  If anyone is interested in the Intro clinic for themselves or for their swimmers or swimmer’s siblings, please let me know.  I have someone who would like to teach it if we have people who want to take it.

Official Registrations:  When we register officials with SNC/Swim Ontario, an email is sent to the official and they must respond by signing on to their SNC account and confirming their information.  We have numerous officials who keep failing when we try to register them because the confirmation never happens.  If you are receiving emails from Swim Canada, please read them and follow the instructions to complete your registration.  If you have anti-spam software, could you please check in the spam folder to see if there are any emails from Swim Canada?

If you have any officiating questions please contact me, Mark Lukings L.A.C. Co-Club Officials Chair at

Club hosted meets help to reduce membership fees by 20-25% as well as reducing travel costs by attending fewer out-of-town meets. To ensure the Club has sufficient resources to host meets, most LAC swim families are required to work a minimum of 22 sessionsduring club hosted meets (please see below for exceptions). These sessions may be worked through officiating or working at the club’s food canteen, awards or other positions. Any unfulfilled session credits will be billed at a rate of $40.00 per session to the swim family’s Swimmer Account at the end of the season. Please note that this is not meant to be a “fundraiser” but rather an incentive to participate in the running of home meets. Swim families may receive up to 5 donated session credits from another club family to complete their credits, however any more than the 5 donated session credits must be approved by the board. Session commitments are waived for first year swim families with no prior competitive swim club affiliation, as well as for introductory and post-secondary students training full time with the club and for varsity swimmers, although assistance during swim meets from these groups is greatly appreciated.  First year families ARE required to fulfill the LAC orientation program. This includes participating in an Introductory to Swimming clinic during the swim season and a follow up “on-deck” mentoring session.

*** Families of Development swimmers who are not in their first year of competitive swimming who do not have a swimmer in another level are required to fulfill only 11 of the assigned session credits.***

There is a session credit FAQ under the "Parent Info" tab under "Session Credits.
