LAC Summer Schedules are posted on the LAC website under the “schedule” tab.

There are two schedules, June 11 – 30 and July 2 – 12. **There have been some revisions to the summer schedules.

THANK YOU to those parents who attended the annual general meeting last Wednesday. The Coaches report to the AGM included a review of our 2017-18 year to date, as well as remaining competitions and the competition calendar for 2018-19. Also mentioned was the very good book "The Little Book of Talent" by Daniel Coyle. It contains 52 tips for improving one's skills, a few of which were touched on, the final one of which suggested that we should all "Think like a gardener, and work like a carpenter." Be patient, keep the faith, be diligent in attending to your responsibilities, and work with repetitive precision. Be meticulous, pay attention to the tiny details, and do everything with focus and purpose. If you "think like a gardener and work like a carpenter" you will ultimately realize mastery in whatever it is you are pursuing.

CONGRATULATIONS and best wishes to our 6 graduating swimmers, who will be moving on to the next exciting chapter of their academic and athletic careers: Emma Clark, Chris Drasovean, Maggie MacNeil, Eleonora Pierre, Michael Quigley and Madelaine Shoemaker. You have all left an indelible imprint on LAC and your teammates, and you will be missed!

GOOD LUCK to our swimmers competing this weekend at Summer Provincials in Etobicoke and Summer AA's in Markham.

Our annual Hauch meet is fast approaching and in keeping with tradition we will be doing our famous bell heats. There are no food donations for this meet, we would like each family to donate $10 worth of prizes (broken up into smaller prize amounts if possible to spread the prizes out further.) Examples from previous years are $5 gift cards, towels, water bottles and a variety of fun toys for the kids to play with around the pool for the day.
When you have your prizes please bring them to your coach or Jane Callon.

Unworked session credits will be billed ($40 per session) after the Dr Paul Hauch Meet and July statements will be sent out after that. If you have any membership concerns, please contact Donna at

Senior Officials for Dr. Paul Hauch Invitational July 13 to 15:  I still need a few senior officials.  If anyone would like to help with senior official positions then the way to sign up is to email me.  Include Hauch in the subject, and let me know the sessions that you are available and the jobs that you can help with.  So far, I have had very few offers of help from LAC but I am recruiting from outside the club.  I know who has taken the clinics.  If required, I will contact qualified people directly.

Minor Officials for Dr. Paul Hauch Invitational:  Sign-ups will be posted shortly.  Expect an email.

Upcoming Clinics, Changes in Plans: I am going to hold the Meet Manager clinic in the fall, closer to when the new people who have offered to help will actually need the information. The Referee clinic has prerequisites and is recommended for people who are level 2 and moving toward level 3.  I know who those people are so I will be having a Referee clinic but it will be by invitation only to try to get as many of those people to one clinic as possible.  If anyone is interested in the Intro clinic for themselves or for their swimmers or their swimmer’s siblings or friends, please let me know.  I have someone who would like to teach it if we have people who want to take it.

Official Registrations:  When we register officials with SNC/Swim Ontario, an email is sent to the official and they must respond by signing on to their SNC account and confirming their information.  We have numerous officials who keep failing when we try to register them because the confirmation never happens.  If you are receiving emails from Swim Canada, please read them and follow the instructions to complete your registration.  If you have anti-spam software, could you please check in the spam folder to see if there are any emails from Swim Canada?

If you have any officiating questions please contact me, Mark Lukings L.A.C. Co-Club Officials Chair at

Club hosted meets help to reduce membership fees by 20-25% as well as reducing travel costs by attending fewer out-of-town meets. To ensure the Club has sufficient resources to host meets, most LAC swim families are required to work a minimum of 22 sessionsduring club hosted meets (please see below for exceptions). These sessions may be worked through officiating or working at the club’s food canteen, awards or other positions. Any unfulfilled session credits will be billed at a rate of $40.00 per session to the swim family’s Swimmer Account at the end of the season. Please note that this is not meant to be a “fundraiser” but rather an incentive to participate in the running of home meets. Swim families may receive up to 5 donated session credits from another club family to complete their credits, however any more than the 5 donated session credits must be approved by the board. Session commitments are waived for first year swim families with no prior competitive swim club affiliation, as well as for introductory and post-secondary students training full time with the club and for varsity swimmers, although assistance during swim meets from these groups is greatly appreciated.  First year families ARE required to fulfill the LAC orientation program. This includes participating in an Introductory to Swimming clinic during the swim season and a follow up “on-deck” mentoring session.

*** Families of Development swimmers who are not in their first year of competitive swimming who do not have a swimmer in another level are required to fulfill only 11 of the assigned session credits.***

There is a session credit FAQ under the "Parent Info" tab under "Session Credits.
