Fri Apr 22 All Group No Workouts Due to Good Friday Meet
We would like to take a moment to remind everyone of the importance of arriving to practice on time...it seems as the year has progressed that punctuality has become an elusive ideal. We certainly understand that everyone leads busy lives, and also that our fair city's traffic grid is not the easiest one to negotiate, and these are legitimate considerations when it comes to evening practices, but the number of swimmers emerging from the change rooms for morning practice 3 or 4 or 12 or 17 minutes late is something of a concern to us. Ours is a sport defined by time...next to technique, time is the key factor we use to measure performance improvement. The warm-up which starts each practice is a critical piece of the session, especially in the morning, and the swimmer who arrives halfway through the warm-up will not be ready to perform at their best in the next set, usually a challenging one, whether technically or from an energy system perspective. During the week some swimmers are required to leave practice early to get to school on time...if this applies to you it is even more important to ensure that you are present for the start of practice. Three minutes of missed training time, twice per week, for 40 weeks, is 4 hours of lost practice time. It may not seem like much but this is one of the little things that makes a BIG difference. Let's make practice punctuality a goal for the rest of the year...there's not much time left, and we need to take advantage of every minute! Thank you!
