We are very excited to report that, for the first time in our club's illustrious history, our membership has surpassed 200 swimmers.  We have over 50 first-time LAC'ers in our ranks, and an energetic, enthusiastic, experienced coaching staff to help everyone achieve their goals. We encourage all parents to direct any swimming-related questions to your child's coach, we are more than happy to discuss your swimmer's progress at any stage of the season.  Our club time trial this Sunday morning and the banquet to follow on Sunday night will be great opportunities to get a sense of the swim meet experience and the great heights achieved by our swimmers in the 2011-12 year.  We are more excited than ever before, with so many enthusiastic, hard-working young athletes in our ranks, to create even more great memories, in the pool and out, as we move into the next Olympic quadrennial.

There will be a parent information meeting on Thurs Oct 25 at CGAC from 5:30-6:30pm. The training Camp is being offered for any interested (12 & older) swimmers in the Age Group and Senior programs. The camp is being planned for the same location as last year (Plantation, near Fort Lauderdale) and the tentative dates are Mar.7-15, 2013.

On Fri Oct 19 from 5:30 - 7:00 pm in the Multi-Purpose Room at CGAC there will be an information session for parents of all swimmers new to the club. Coaches and board members will be present to speak on all things LAC and answer any questions you may have.

Will take place on Sunday, October 21, 2012 at the Greek Canadian Club on Sarnia Road. Social starts at 4:30 pm and dinner will be served at 5:00 pm. Our banquet not only recognizes the hard work and achievements of our swimmers from the past season it also introduces and welcomes our newest team members to the club. There are two positions that we are particularly interested in training new people for. Electronics Operator and Meet Manager. Neither of these positions require that you jump in to them with no support. In fact, you can work with other Meet Managers and Electronics Operators until you are ready to try the job on your own. Sheri Cappa has offered to have someone shadow her at the time trial and I would be pleased to show people what I have been doing for Nothers and have them shadow me for that meet as well. If anyone is interested in learning either of these positions please let me know.

I will be arranging live Level I Timers Clinic(s) and Strokes and Turns Clinic(s) prior to the Nothers meet in late November. If anyone is planning on striving for officiating levels beyond level II this year, teaching credits are required. If anyone would like a chance to teach a Level I Timers Clinic or a Strokes and Turns Clinic please contact me so that I can slot you in.

Another reminder. If you have not already done so please respond to the email that you may have received on about July 8th from Ontario Swimming Officials Associationwith the subject OSOA Membership Renewal. If you received this email, please read it and follow the instructions (click on ‘Please confirm my registration’) to reactivate your Officials account. If you deleted the email then please contact me and I can reactivate your account for you. To date, only about 60% of our officials are listed as active.

Its QSP time again.

We will again be doing the QSP magazine fundraiser. The magazine fundraiser is an excellent way to offset the cost of meet fees by purchasing subscriptions through QSP you normally would purchase anyway on your own. The fundraising portion as a percentage of the subscription price is approximately 35%. Of this amount, 80% is credited to the family swimmer (formerly called travel) account and 20% is retained by the club.

For the current year, we ask families to participate ONLINE. To encourage ONLINE use, the club will only retain 10% of the fundraising amounts for ONLINE orders.

Next year we plan to use the ONLINE method exclusively but for the current year, we are making the ordering by regular forms available. To obtain forms, please contact Stacey Richardson or go Online.

To participate ONLINE, you will need to log in to

The online code for LAC is 17084.

If this is the first time using QSP's ONLINE ordering, you will need to register first.

For those using the regular forms method, please ensure that all cheques are payable to LAC. These orders are due October 21 either at the Time Trial or at the banquet.

If you need order forms, booklets or have questions, please either email Stacey at or see her at the pool.
