CONGRATULATIONS to everyone for their Holiday Time Trial performances on Saturday. Not only is it part of Swimming Canada's and Swim Ontario's "Long Term Athlete Development Strategy", but it is one of the cornerstones of our club philosophy, that young athletes need to demonstrate competency in all 4 strokes and across all distances. Of course we are all aware of the "pre-requisite" times required for 14&under girls and 15&under boys in the longer freestyle and IM events to compete at the provincial championship level; and one of the changes implemented for 2012-13 at the Age Group National level is that swimmers must qualify in 3 events in order to gain entry to the meet. This is why it is important for our younger swimmers to swim all events and all distances as often as possible, once they have shown readiness in training. The Holiday Time Trial afforded us the opportunity to have many of you complete events and distances you may have never swum before - if this is the case, CONGRATULATIONS! And remember 2 things about that bad word "FAILURE": 1) it is an event, NOT a person and 2) it is a stepping stone, NOT a stopping point.
HOLIDAY TIME TRIAL
Thanks everyone for coming out on Saturday to help run our time trial. We had lots of new people helping. It is great to see so many eager new faces. I hope everyone has opportunity to share some wonderful family time over the holidays. Thanks again.

CNG HOLIDAY INVITATIONAL
This meet will take place this weekend in Gatineau, Quebec Dec.14-16. The bus will be leaving from CGAC at 8:00 am on Thursday December 13 and returning to CGAC at approximately 3:00 am on Monday December 17. ***Please remember to present a copy of your HEALTH CARD to one of the chaperones when you board the bus on Thu morning. And remember that we will be swimming upon arrival in Gatineau, so your swim bag needs to be separate from your small piece of non-swimming luggage. You will NOT require your training equipment for Gatineau, so no fins, or pulling equipment, or snorkel. Bring your water bottle however.
MILTON MARLINS INVITATIONAL JANUARY 19-20 TEAM TRAVEL
This meet is for all 13&over swimmers not attending Ontario Cup - the meet is 2 timed finals sessions, Sat & Sun morning, and the deadline to confirm your attendance is Thu.Jan.3. More importantly, please indicate whether or not you require team travel; if there is sufficient need, we may travel by school bus to Milton each morning, departing CGAC at 5:30am, and returning to CGAC at 3pm. Stay tuned for details.

We had two very successful officiating events this past weekend. A long but very informative Strokes and Turns clinic and another well run Time Trial!
Thanks to Greg Lewis for conducting his usual excellent clinic Friday evening and thanks to Saad Aldin and Rose Bloch-Hansen for sitting in and offering their considerable experience to the students.
The Time trial Saturday evening went off without a hitch. Kudos to Sheri Cappa, our Meet Manager and Alex Vanderkam, our Meet Referee. We had quite a few new officials out in various capacities and I am pleased to say that everyone seemed to be doing a great job and having fun too. Thanks again everyone!
For those of you who missed the Level I Timekeepers Clinics or the Level II Strokes and Turns Clinic, I am planning on holding more of each, prior to the 12 & Under Celebration Meet in January.
If you took the Timers Clinic in early November or the Strokes and Turns Clinic on Friday and have not yet registered as an official, please do so. Your attention to this would be greatly appreciated.
