COACHES REPORT on GATINEAU 2012
There was lots of fast swimming and lots of fun in Gatineau last weekend - probably one of our biggest team travel undertakings ever and everyone must be congratulated and commended for the part they played in making the trip a success. First and foremost, a huge THANK YOU to our chaperone team, who worked incredibly hard to make sure that everyone was properly fuelled and recovered each day: Carmen, Wendi, Tracy, Ed and Laura...couldn't have done it without you.
THE STATS! There were 21 teams at the meet, and overall we placed 3rd in gold medal count with 12 individual swimmers and 3 relays swimming to 44 first place finishes, and 4th in the total medal count, with 29 individual swimmers and 9 relays accounting for 103 total medals. For a full list of medalists click here. Our personal best conversion rate was an incredible 79% (351/444), with almost a third of our team (20 swimmers) achieving pb's in all of their swims. On "FINISH STRONG" day (Sunday, the last day) we had more preliminary heat winners than anyone can remember and 52 of 72 swims in finals (72%) were an improvement on their morning swim. Those aren't just words on a T-shirt, they are now a BELIEF! The team spirit and support for each other was outstanding...to be the best you must be willing to STAND OUT and not care what others may think...we had the best spirit of any team at the meet and we had a PRESENCE both in and out of the pool! Special CONGRATULATIONS to the following swimmers: Swimmers of the Day Sam C. & Dominic (Fri), Aiden & Jenna (Sat), Julia N. & Brayden (Sun); Brayden for 2 pool records in the 400IM and 200FL; club record-setters Maggie in the 11/12 girls 100&200BK and Jenna in the 13/14 girls 100FL; first-time qualifiers Andrew O'B. (Youth Nationals), David A. & Sam C. (Provincials) and Christina N. (Regionals). WAY TO GO TEAM!

12 & UNDER CELEBRATION MEET
This meet is for all of LAC 12 and under swimmers. It takes place at CGAC on the weekend of Jan 19 & 20. Please sign up on the LAC website if you plan to attend the meet.
There have been 7 LAC members that have completed the following online clinics this season; Level I Timekeeper and Safety Marshal, Strokes and Turns, Chief Finish Judge, Chief Timekeeper, Chief Judge Electronics, and Clerk of Course Clinics. Online clinics can be taken when it is convenient for you, child care is not an issue, they don’t interfere with dinner, we don’t have to rent a room for them and we don’t have to bring in a Level V official to oversee the clinic. There are lots of good reasons why you should give these a try, including that they are an excellent way to review the material if it has been a while since you did a particular clinic.
Congratulations to all of you for taking the initiative to prepare yourself to help LAC at our future meets!
Merry Christmas to our LAC family. Have a great break, and we’ll see you in the New Year.
