Congratulations to our 23 LAC swimmers on successfully completing the “High Five Training Camp” in Florida over the March Break. Thank you to Maria Smith, Mark Lukings and Kevin Springer for chaperoning and taking such great care of our swimmers. Please remember as you return to your regular training that honking needs to be supportive and encouraging, otherwise it is just honking.

For those of you who had a week of leisure over the March Break, hopefully you used it to a) re-charge your batteries and  b) set some S.M.A.R.T. goals for the LC season.  S.M.A.R.T. goals?

Specific - Measureable - Achievable - Relevant - Time-bound.

The spring/summer season is 1/3rd shorter than the fall/winter season.  Most of you are already in terrific shape from the work you put in over the last 28 weeks, now it's time to get right back to work for the next 18 or so weeks.  Less than 8 weeks to Hollandia, 11 weeks to the 13/U Festival, 12 weeks to 13&o Regionals, 14 weeks to 12&u Regionals,16 weeks to Provincials, and 19 weeks to Age Group Nationals.  To continue with the analogy of the Canada Goose cited above, just as they honk for a reason, they also fly in V formation for a reason. Look it up, and let's all fly in V formation for the coming weeks...toward Victory!

One final reminder about the Western Ontario Swimming Officials Association who will be holding their Spring Clinic Day on Saturday, March 23 at the St. Thomas Campus of Fanshawe College. If you prefer live clinics this is an excellent opportunity to hear from some experienced officials. Also, if you want to learn how to be Starter or Referee then you should plan to attend, as these clinics are not available on-line. There is a session in the morning and another in the afternoon. Morning snacks and lunch are provided. There is no charge to attend. You can register from your OSOA account or you can just drop in at 8:30 A.M. to register there.

A session credit will be given to anyone taking a clinic, for a new position, for the first time, on-line, at a club clinic, or at a regional clinic. Come out to any clinic for the first time, or for a refresher.
