COACHES REPORT

Good luck to everyone swimming at our Hollandia Invitational this weekend.  It will be a busy weekend with, in most cases, a lot of time between your races (with the exception perhaps of the Fri 50's). So, be ready for your opportunities when they come, make sure you stay warm and hydrated and fuelled between your swims, and make sure you are awake and activated and focussed in the 30 minutes leading up to your swims. Here's the run-down (again) on swim meet expectations for all LAC'ers: great team spirit (LOUD & PROUD!) - this includes wearing your team cap and shirt, participating in the team cheer, and supporting your teammates every time you see them in a close race; and every time a LAC'er wins a heat, an organized "WAY TO GO Susie or Billy!" 2) punctuality - at the beginning of each session look your coach in the eye and say "Hi Coach, I'm here!"  At the end of each session look your coach in the eye and ask: "I think I'm done Coach, what time do you want me here for the next session?"  3) pre- and post-swim reporting - the last person you see before your swim? your coach. The first person you see after your swim? your coach.  4) good warm-up habits - these include getting in on time, completing the entire warm-up, and asking your coach if there's anything they want to see before you finish your warm-up.  A good warm-up will take between 30-45mins (take your time), and it should finish no earlier than 45mins before your first swim  5) fuelling for performance - good eating and hydration habits, both at and away from the pool, with the main message being: make sure you're eating and drinking enough!  6) finally, HAVE FUN! Take one positive from each swim, and one area for improvement, then on to the next one! GO LAC GO!

LAC ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The LAC AGM will be held on June 19th at 7 pm. Additional details will be posted to the website under the 'Events' tab closer to the date.

There are presently two vacant Board positions to be filled at the AGM. If anyone is interested in learning more about the vacant Board positions please contact Paul Cappa at swim4life@isp.ca.

SWIMMING 101 COACHING COURSE

The coaches that attended the Swimming 101 course this past weekend at CGAC would like to thank the Development swimmers that came out and shared their skills with us. Your enthusiasm for swimming was appreciated!

OFFICIALS REPORT

We had a couple of good clinics last week resulting in 7 new Timers and 7 new Strokes and Turns Officials. Thanks to everyone for attending and for the excellent discussions and learning for everyone!

A reminder to everyone who has attended a clinic this year that you must be registered with osoa.ca so that the clinic completion can be recorded and so that session credits can be awarded. If you have not yet registered, please do so. I have sent a reminder with instructions to the email account that you used to register for the clinic.

On a related note, we still need people for some positions at Hollandia. If you have not signed up, please have a look and see if there is an opening that you can fill but keep in mind that you need to be qualified to sign up for Strokes and Turns. If you have taken the Strokes and Turns clinic, have yet to try the job, and are feeling a little uncomfortable with the position then contact Mary at marydan@bigbill.ca to see if she can pair you up with an experienced official for a mentorship session.

If anyone would like a deck sign-off for a position that they are working this weekend at Hollandia, please remember to bring your Officials Certification Card with you and let the Referee know, after the briefing, but before the session, that you are looking for the sign-off. After the session, seek out the Referee again and ask for the sign-off.
