A busy past weekend, with some of you racing in Guelph and more of you in Tillsonburg.  There is much to commend on both fronts, with many personal bests achieved and many events swum for the first time.  Good stroke technique, streamlining, starting and turning, racing smart and tough, and great team spirit were all in evidence.  While it is always good (and fun) to swim faster than you ever have before, an equally important lesson to learn is that not every swim is going to be a personal best - if you had a result that was a little bit short of what you expected, as long as you take away something good from each swim and something to improve upon (see the areas cited above), it has been a worthwhile experience.  Your skill and fitness foundations can always be expanded - and there is still plenty of time for that to happen. We will now start to simulate racing conditions in practice, focussing on great technique when you start to get tired. We call this T.U.F. training (Technique Under Fatigue).  Remember, there are always things to get better at, there will always be another opportunity to improve, and each one of you is on your own path. NEVER BELIEVE YOU ARE THE BEST - ALWAYS BELIEVE YOU CAN BE THE BEST.

Thank you to all of the parents who helped as timers and in other areas, especially at the Tillsonburg meet.

Congratulations first time qualifiers Rachel Turner and Erin Pool (Regionals), and David Armstrong (Eastern Canadians).

Congratulations to club record-setter Maggie MacNeil, in the 13/14 girls 100BK and 200BK.

This meet takes place at CGAC and ALL LAC swimmers are invited to attend. Food and job sign-ups are now available on the LAC website under the “events” tab.

Deposit cheques for $200 made out to LAC are due by Tue.Nov.5.

The meet information and list of current qualifiers for this meet has been posted in the Upcoming Events section of the website. This is a team travel event - we will be travelling by bus to Pointe Claire, departing CGAC early on Thu.Dec.12 and returning early on Mon.Dec.16. We will be staying at the Quality Suites, 6300 Trans-Canada Highway, Pointe Claire, QC, H9R 1B9 (tel: 514-426-5060). Approximate total cost will be $350. If you are not on the current list of qualifiers, you can still qualify at our November meets.

The Timekeeper and Strokes & Turns clinics have been scheduled, with dates and times listed below. To work as a Strokes & Turns official you are required to take the clinic, either live or online. If you have not taken the S&T clinic but can make one of the dates listed below or can take the online clinic prior to Nothers then you can sign up as a Strokes & Turns official for Nothers now. If this will be your first time as a Strokes & Turns Official, please say so in the comments when you sign up. A reminder that EVERY LAC family is required to have someone who has taken the Level I Timekeepers clinic. You CAN take the Strokes & Turns clinic prior to the Timekeeper clinic. Taking any clinic for the first time will earn you a session credit for each clinic taken.
