WORKOUT CHANGES

The last workout before our December break will be Sat.Dec.21. There will be NO WORKOUTS the week of Dec.23-28. The training schedule for the week of Dec.30-Jan.4 is now posted under the "Schedules" tab.

COACHES REPORT

GREAT JOB EVERYONE this past weekend at our Nothers Invitational.  Many personal bests, many events successfully completed for the first time, lots of top 8 finishes and first-time performers in finals at night, 35 swimmers collected 111 individual medals (41G-39S-31B) and 17 relay finishes were top 3. (five 1st-seven 2nd-five 3rd). For a complete list of Nothers medalists see the "What's New" section of the website. There was plenty of great team spirit, most everyone was wearing their LAC uniform (some of you need to get the team bathing cap), and there was lots of great cheering for your teammates. The weather certainly presented some challenges on Sunday, but everyone did their best to stay adaptable and flexible, and it underlined for the coaches 2 important realities: 1) always keep things in perspective - yes, the swim meets are important as feedback on all the hard work you've done, but safety must always come before anything else 2) for those of you swimming preliminaries in the morning, always give 100% because sometimes (more often than not) that second chance you were counting on may not materialize. "Wait until finals, coach!" is counting chickens before they've hatched. Take advantage of every opportunity as it comes.

Finally, many thanks from the LAC coaches and swimmers to our meet management team, everyone who helped make the meet a success for us, in particular Meet Manager Margaret Marshall and Meet Referee Denise McDonald.

CONGRATULATIONS to our first time qualifiers: Regionals: Sarah Brule, Ryan Ellig, Ahmed El Tatawy, Katia Langham, Hanna Prier, Lydia Thuss  Provincials: Sam Gati, Tyrus Kalanyos, Colin Shearer, Nathalie Stackhouse  Eastern Canadians: Hayden Richardson

CONGRATULATIONS also to club record-setter Maggie MacNeil in the 13/14 girls 100FL and to first time All Time Top 10 Performer Dominic Cappa.

SWA MUSTANG INVITATIONAL DEC. 7-8

This new meet (taking place at Western U.) has been added to our competition schedule as a racing opportunity for Senior and Age Group swimmers unable to attend the Pointe Claire Invitational. Some Development swimmers will be invited to attend - check with your coach if you are interested.

POINTE CLAIRE INVITATIONAL DEC.12-16

The meet information and list of current qualifiers for this meet is posted in the Upcoming Events section of the website. It is a team travel event - we will be travelling by bus to Pointe Claire, departing CGAC early on Thu.Dec.12 and returning early on Mon.Dec.16. We will be staying at the Quality Suites, 6300 Trans-Canada Highway, Pointe Claire, QC, H9R 1B9 (tel: 514-426-5060). Approximate total cost will be $350. The final team list has been set, we will have over 70 swimmers competing!

OFFICIALS REPORT

We hosted an excellent meet on the weekend!  Congratulations to Meet Manager Margaret Marshall and Meet Referee Denise McDonald for another job very well done.

Congratulations and thank you to all who helped make it a success - lots of great support and commitment...especially with the wild Sunday weather! As always there were a few technical glitches and as always they were handled in stride. Thank you to all of the non-LAC officials who traveled from out of town. We always get your support and we don’t take it for granted - it is always a pleasure to see and to work with each of you. There were also many non-LAC minor officials - thanks to all of you for stepping in to fill the holes in our various sessions.

It was nice to see so many of you requesting "sign-offs" for deck experience - officials progression "up the ladder" is essential to us continuing to host great meets.

Next up are the Holiday Time Trial on December 14 and the 12&Under Celebration on January 18-19.  I hope to see you all there!
