Due to Time Trial & Pointe-Claire Meet

Sat Dec 7+21 Senior Blue 5:30-8:30am CGAC

The last workout before our December break will be Sat.Dec.21. There will be NO WORKOUTS the week of Dec.23-28. The training schedule for the week of Dec.30-Jan.4 is now posted under the "Schedules" tab. CLICK HERE

Seventy-eight of you are now in the final preparation stage for our trip to Pointe Claire and the major competition of the fall training cycle.  Remember in this final phase that it is very important to go FAST when you are asked to go FAST in training...the race car has to get out on the track and do some laps at race speed to make sure everything is working as it should.  You need to simulate race efforts in this final stage so that the actual races inside the meet are not a shock to your system - your body needs to know what it feels like to swim at the goal speed you set for yourself at the start of the season. You must also ensure at this stage that all the right fuels are going into the high performance machine that is your body, and that you are getting adequate amounts of rest.  Good luck to our swimmers racing this weekend at the SWA Invitational at Western University.

CONGRATULATIONS to our seven swimmer contingent (Vince, Elgar, Nathan, Nick, Maggie, Aitana and Jenna) that competed in Winnipeg at the Prairie Winter Invitational last weekend. LAC came away with the small team high point award (the highest aggregate team point total for the club with no more than 15 swimmers in the meet). Maggie led the way with 8 medals (6G-1S-1B) and the 13-14 girls high point award, as well as establishing 3 club records; Nathan had two 1st, two 2nd and two 3rd place finishes; Jenna won 6 medals (1G-3S-2B) and set 1 club record; Vince collected 2G and 1B; Elgar and Aitana each had a bronze medal performance, with Aitana establishing a club record; and Nick had 5 top 8 finishes. All of them swam to personal bests in multiple events.

Belated CONGRATULATIONS to the 13/14 girls club record-setting 4x50 Medley Relay at Nothers: Jessica, Ellie, Maggie and Menley.

On behalf of the London Aquatic Club, I would like to thank everyone involved in the Nothers Fall Invitational.  This meet was truly an example of how people from our club and other clubs can pull together to make a meet work.  In particular I would like to thank our Meet Referee Denise McDonald  and Rose Bloch-Hansen. There were many challenges - Denise and Rose showed a level of calm and experience that allowed us to continue without getting too far behind.  I would also like to thank our timers and senior officials, as they had a lot to deal with, particularly on Friday during the distance events.  Thanks also to our canteen volunteers - the food was great!  We had some experienced awards volunteers and some new recruits as well - well done.  We would not have been able to keep the meet going without our technical support team: thanks to Saad Aldin, Greg Lewis, Mark Lukings and Kean Riekenbrauck. The staff at CGAC were great, and a special thank you goes to Ben Perlman. The list of people to thank is endless, and I would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that without volunteers we would not be able to run a meet like this.

Thanks again everyone,

Margaret Marshall, Meet Manager

Takes place this weekend at Western University. Fri Dec 6 warm-up is at 2pm (Senior swimmers only). Sat Dec 7 and Sun Dec 8 warm-up is at 8am (Senior, Age Group and Development swimmers). There are no afternoon sessions on Sat or Sun.

The team has been finalized. Please put your cheque for $350 (payable to LAC) in the LAC box at CGAC. Our chaperone team is requesting home made cookies and/or squares from all families. They would appreciate two dozen or more in a marked container to be collected before we leave on the bus December 12. Please no peanuts or nuts in the baking.

Stay tuned for an email providing more information on travel and competition details.

Swimmer Account Statements

Statements for meets up to this past weekend will be sent out later this week - they will be sent by e-mail to your login e-mail. Included in the e-mail will be options for making payment. Amounts generally relate to meet entry fees but also include miscellaneous items such as surcharge for long sleeve shirts, extra guests at the banquet, and minor membership fee adjustments. General information on swimmer statements including payment options can be found by logging in to the website and looking under swimmer accounts. The entry summary tab includes details for meet fees (please note we do not currently use the website billing system).

Families are reminded that payment is due on receipt. As always, feel free to contact me at if you have any questions about the postings on your account. For any questions requiring more than a simple e-mail, please see me at the pool or e-mail me so we can make arrangements to speak over the phone.
