Great racing for all of our swimmers in Tillsonburg last weekend. The coaches saw great team spirit on display, especially as some of our youngest LAC swimmers raced their first relays!

It was a great meet for trying new races and learning how to race events with short rest. The meet emphasized the importance of training and LAC stayed strong over all 3 days.

Good luck to our swimmers competing at the Eastern Canadian Championships in Windsor and the Swim Ontario 13&Under Festival in Brantford this weekend.

Congratulations First Time Regional Qualifier: Hannah Fenn

Swimmer  Account Statements

Swimmer statements were sent out over the weekend by e-mail to your login e-mail. Please let me know if you did not receive your statement. Included in the e-mail will be options for making payment. Details on meet entries can be found under the "Swimmer A/Cs // Entry Summaries" tab when signed in on the website. Families are reminded that payment is due on receipt. As always, feel free to contact me at if you have any questions about the postings on your account. For any questions requiring more than a simple e-mail, please see me at the pool or e-mail me so we can make arrangements to speak over the phone.

Note: Although the website has a billing option, we do not currently use it due to some technical reasons. We will be reviewing the billing function prior to the start of next season.

Child Fitness Tax Credit Receipts

Child Fitness Tax Credit Receipts are in the process of being prepared and will be e-mailed to parents by this time next week (February 18th). Please contact me at if you have not received your receipt by February 19th.

Please note that only those swimmers born in 1997 or younger are eligible

Congratulations and thank you to all LAC officials who worked at the WOSA Regional Champs!  The meet was hosted by a group of small clubs who were simply unable to supply all of the officials required to run this event.  I am very pleased to hear that Coach Donna had way more volunteers than she could use.  Thanks folks!

The Provincial Age Group Champs and the Late Winter Time Trial are just 2 weeks away and you can now sign up both on the LAC web site for Timer and for Strokes and Turns positions.  If you are feeling like changing things up, broadening your horizons, getting untethered from the end of a lane, then take an online clinic for a level II position and sign up for that job using your OSOA account.  In particular, we have a need to get people trained on the new Quantum timing system.  If you can operate a smart phone, you can do this job.  If interested, sign up for Electronics Operator using your OSOA account or contact me and I can arrange for you to be trained during Provincials or the Time Trial and you get a session credit for this just like any other job.

In order for our club to continue to host meets we must be able to show that a certain number of our officials are progressing by moving "up the ladder."  After taking clinics, the next step is to become fully certified in the positions that you work by getting your deck sign-offs.  To do this you bring your officiating card to the meet and at the officials briefing before the session, you ask the Referee if you can get a sign-off.  After the session is worked you again ask the Referee for the sign-off and you may be asked a couple of simple questions like ‘How many times have you done the job?’  In most cases they will ask nothing at all and sign your card.  If you are doing Timing and/or Strokes and Turns there is no reason why we should not have all of you signed off for these positions by the end of the season.  You can get one sign-off per position worked per meet, for example, if you only time then you can get one sign-off at a meet, if you work 5 different jobs you COULD get 5 sign-offs at a single meet.

The Western Region clinic day will be held on Saturday, March 22 at the St. Thomas Campus of Fanshawe College. The morning clinics will include Referee, Recorder/Scorer, Strokes and Turns, and Chief Finish Judge/Chief Judge Electronics. The afternoon clinics will be Starter, Meet Manager, Clerk Of Course, and Chief Timekeeper. This is a great opportunity to attend live clinics for those positions that are presented less often. Morning refreshments and lunch are provided and there is no charge for any of this. Mark your calendars. You can register on your OSOA.CA account or you can just show up but keep in mind that they have to plan for the right amount of food.

If anyone has any questions about anything officiating related, please do not hesitate to contact me.
