SQUAD TRAINING SCHEDULE

The structure and criteria for joining a squad is based on a number of factors, including level of skill, age and attendance. In each case, the coach will recommend a number of sessions per week for the individual swimmer, dependent upon their performance expectations and goals.

Senior

Stage of development: Training to Compete & Train to Win

Swimmers are expected to have 90% attendance for the 7 pool sessions and 2 gym sessions scheduled each week.  Members of this squad are approximately 14yrs of age and older and train at a level consistent with Provincial and National level athletes.

 

Senior Development

Stage of development: Training to Train & Train to compete.

Swimmers are expected to have 85% attendance for the 5 pool sessions and 2 gym sessions scheduled each week.  Members of this squad are approximately 12yrs-14yrs of age with a view of achieving Regional and Provincial Time Standards. 

 

Junior

Stage of development: Learning to Train &Training to Train.

Swimmers have 5 pool sessions and 2 gym sessions each week. Members of this squad are approximately 10yrs-12yrs of age and train at a level consistent with achieving Regional & Festival level standards.

 

Junior Development 

Stage of development: Learning to Train.

Swimmers have 4 pool sessions and 1 gym session scheduled each week. Members of this squad are approximately 9yrs-11yrs of age and train at a level consistent with achieving Regional level standards.

 

Novice

Stage of development: FUNdamentals & Learning to Train.

Swimmers train 3 times a week. Members of this squad are approximately 11yrs of age and under and train with a view to compete in entry level competitions. Swimmers should be able to perform each of the 4 competitive strokes over a distance of 25 metres to begin in this program.
