Junior Barracudas

Junior Barracudas and FitSwim

The Junior Barracudas program is a pre-competitive swimming program for children aged 6 to 13 years old. The Junior Barracudas program focuses on improving stroke technique, developing body awareness, and building swimmer endurance.

We typically hold 4 sessions per year - fall, winter, spring, and summer - as well as a summer Skills Camp. There are currently six different levels that are not comparable to City programs, so your first step to joining the Junior Barracudas Program is to come in for a stroke assessment. We look forward to meeting you and your swimmer!

During the Fall, Winter, and Spring, we swim at the Nepean Sportsplex, Walter Baker Community Center, and Richcraft Recreation Center. In the summer, we swim at the Nepean Sportsplex, Crestview Community Center, and Katimavik Community Center.

2022 Winter Session
We are currently working with our partners at the City of Ottawa and Swim Ontario to confirm our Winter programming.  We expect to have all details for the 2022 Winter Session available here in early November, and the session itself to be starting in January.  Please be sure to check back!  In the meantime, please review the 2021 Fall session information below for an idea of what to expect and more information about getting started.

2021 Fall Session  - Program Full
We are excited to confirm that ALL of our levels will be returning this fall!

Joining the Junior Barracudas can be done in three easy steps!

Returning Swimmers:  Please check your End of Session Progress Reports for the levels you will register your swimmer(s) in. If you no longer have this report, please email [email protected].
New Swimmers: Please complete a stroke assessment so that we may place your swimmer in one of the six levels.

Stroke Assessments
Because we are a pre-competitive program, our levels differ from city and learn-to-swim programs.  We invite you to complete a stroke assessment so we can confirm your swimmer's level of best fit. There is no cost to attend a stroke assessment, and it will take approximately 10-15 minutes.
