Scott is returning as the head coach, has been with NKB since 2000 and brings almost 30 years coaching experience to the pool, including successful stints as Head Coach of Perth Stingrays and at Oakville Aquatic club. As a coach, he has received numerous awards and honours including CSCTA’s Domestic Excellence Award multiple times, Age Group Coach of the Year, coaching Provincial, Canadian, and International all-star tour teams, and Head Coach of Ontario’s Summer Games Team. His extensive national and international coaching experience includes work with many of the faces you see, past and present, on the Olympic circuit, including recent Hall of Fame inductee and former Canadian record holder Mike Brown. As a swimmer, he was a Canadian record holder himself, so the swimmers of NKB are sure to benefit from his talents.
Heather Page Fairley
Head Age Group Coach
Heather came to NKB from the USA, where she had a long and successful career in competitive swimming. She is returning as the Head Age Group Coach again this year, as well as the Program Coordinator for our Junior Barracudas program. She joined NKB in 2010, following her work as an award winning teacher in Boston Public Schools. She brings 17 years of coaching experience to the pool, during which time she has coached novice swimmers through to some of the top ranked young Canadian athletes. She has also been named Ontario Coach of the Year and earned CSCTA’s Domestic Excellence Award on multiple occasions. She shares her love of the sport of swimming with her swimmers and is committed to helping all swimmers succeed, in and out of the pool, through her emphasis on technique and positive, strong work ethics.
Assistant Senior Coach
Ben is returning to NKB this year as the Senior Group Assistant Coach, and is also an Assistant Coordinator in our Junior Barracudas program. Ben brings his passion for coaching and working with young athletes to the NKB family from his experience with other aquatic clubs. He has numerous certifications and experience across athletics, and he will be continuing to use his skill set to build our dryland and weight room programs.
Age Group Green Coach
Tori has been a long time NKB swimmer who ranks among our elite alumni. Previously she was a Junior Barracuda coach and supervisor, and we are glad to have her returning to Age Group Green for another season. She will also be coaching out FitSwim program again this season. We look forward to her continued commitment to the swimmers and supporting them in reaching new levels of success in the pool!
Age Group White Coach
Kaitlyn joined NKB in 2015, hailing from Milton originally. She is in her fourth year at Carleton University where she is studying Neuroscience and Mental Health as she prepares for a career in sports psychology. She was a competitive swimmer for the Milton Marlins, and moreover, brings seven years of coaching experience, both competitive and developmental, to some of NKB’s novice swimmers.
Age Group Kanata Coach
Ryan is also a long time NKB Alum who has returned to Ottawa from University of Calgary, where he continued his swimming career and earned a degree in Kineseology. He wears both an athlete and coach cap at NKB, leading by example in the water and on the deck. Coming off his 2016 Olympic Trials Finalist performance, and the equally exciting successes of the swimmers in Age Group Kanata as they rose to new heights, we look forward to all he has in store for another season!
Junior Black Coach
Morgan will be returning to Junior Black this season, and we are excited to have him return to this role after raising the bar for our Junior programming - once again supporting our Junior swimmers in having an extremely successful year. He is another proud NKB alum, was previously a Junior Barracuda instructor and supervisor, a competitive coach. He now also adds graduate of Algonquin College to his resume and is working as a Registered Massage Therapist.
Junior Green Coach, Senior Assistant Coach
Barb comes to NKB this year with seven years of coaching experience ranging from the most novice "rookies" to helping "veterans" move onto the national level. She is passionate about coaching and enjoys helping swimmers achieve their goals. She is an NCCP Level 2 trained coach. As an Early Childhood Educator as well, Barb enjoys combining her sills with early learning and the swimmer's love of the water. Barb is very excited to join NKB, and we are equally excited to have her joining the NKB family!
Junior Kanata Coach
Morgan is an NKB alumnus and competed for the Barracudas for eight years. She joins the competitive program at NKB following her work with our Junior Barracuda program, and is no stranger to the long term development of our swimmers and helping them develop key foundational skills they will need to reach top levels of our sport. If you take a look at NKB's Top Ten All-Time Performance Lists, you will find evidence this as Morgan still owns multiple spots in the rankings. NKB proudly welcomes her to her new role!
