Swim Meet Expectations
Listed below are the expectations that the coaches at NKB place on all swimmers at a meet. In the early meets, we will be teaching and supporting the swimmers in learning the routines, and hope for them to become good habits for our athletes.
WEAR TEAM GEAR
Show your Black and Green pride from the moment you step onto the deck. When on team travel, team gear and team colors are to be worn at all times in public. This includes on the bus to and from the meet, to and from the pool, on deck, as well as at team meals and events.
SWIMMERS MUST BE ON DECK, READY TO START ACTIVATIONS 15 MINUTES PRIOR TO THE START OF WARM UPS
Team activations begin 15 minutes prior to the start of warm-up. You should be ready to go at this time, not just walking on deck
SWIMMERS MUST CHECK IN WITH YOUR COACH
Please greet your coach prior to warm-ups, before and after races, and before you leave. This way we can help prepare for races, share important information, and confirm relays.
SUPPORT YOUR TEAMMATES THROUGHOUT THE MEET
We’re proud to be NKB, and the best part of NKB is your teammates. Be sure to support them with cheering and positive language throughout every meet. You’ll like it when they are doing the same for you!
BRING HEALTHY SNACKS
Just like a car needs fuel, swimmers need fuel too. Please be sure to bring healthy snacks and a water bottle to eat and drink throughout the meet. (Be sure to fuel up before coming to the meet as well!)
ALL NKB SWIMMERS ATTEND FINALS
If your age group has any events in finals, you come back to finals and warm-up with the team. Practicing the preparation for a final swim is equally important as anything else you may practice. NKB always supports their teammates and is prepared to race as an alternate in case of scratches. Moreover, relays are often finalized at race time
STAY UNTIL RELAYS ARE FINISHED
Swimmers who have a habit of leaving early or skipping relays will not be selected for relays in the future.
Whenever a warm down space is available, swimmers should warm down. Swimmers should confirm with their coach what their warm down is and parents should plan for 20 minutes after the last race for warm down.
