Goal Reached!

Swim-A-Thon is an annual fundraiser held by every swim club across Canada. It is a 2 hour event during which swimmers will swim for 5000m or 2 hours, whichever comes first! Participating in this type of a swim challenge is an amazing accomplishment for our swimmers and it is also the best way for swimmers to raise funds that directly benefit the club. The Newmarket Stingrays receive 90% of every dollar raised by the swimmers. Swim-a-thon fundraising dollars help the club offset fees associated with pool bookings, maintaining a top tier coaching staff and upgrading our available technologies for stroke assessment and improvement. Many of you will have seen the coaches with iPads on deck as well as video equipment both on deck and in-water – all of which are made possible with funds raised through Swim-A-Thon.

Please go to our club link at www.ontarioswimathon.ca/new , register your swimmer, and start spreading the word to family, friends, business colleagues, social contacts, and community members that support the sport of swimming.

Weekender and String Bag Prizes

We are excited to announce two amazing prizes for swimmers raising funds for Swim-A-Thon. Swimmers who raise at least $50 will receive a Newmarket Stingrays string bag, perfect for carrying dryland shoes or on-deck accessories. Swimmers earning $150 or more will receive the string bag and an overnight duffel bag emblazoned with the Stingrays logo, perfect for travel meets. The duffel bag is a great size for a weekend away, has multiple pockets, a shoe compartment, and a shoulder strap. This bag will make packing for London a breeze! We will also look at options for having swimmers’ names added to the bags at a later date if families are interested in doing so.

We will be displaying the weekender bag at the pool and swim meet these next couple of weeks for parents and swimmers to view.

Weekly Prizes

In addition, weekly draws for prizes will commence this week, so if you haven’t started fundraising now is the time to get started, 2 names will be announced in this week’s newsletter.

Year End Banquet Prizes

We have a new format for prizes at our year end banquet this year. Every swimmer that raises $100 or more will have their name entered into the prize draw and names drawn will go back into the pot for a chance to win each and every prize.

Tax Receipts

Swim Canada has rules around eligibility for receipts. Please note that tax receipts will not be issued for any donations to Swim-A-Thon this year.

How to Register

Please go to our club link at www.ontarioswimathon.ca/new , register your swimmer, and start spreading the word to family, friends, business colleagues, social contacts, and community members that support the sport of swimming.

Fundraising Dollars

Remember that 90% of all funds raised through Swim-a-thon comes directly back to the Stingrays. Funds are used to offset pool costs, acquire advanced technologies to assist coaches and contribute to the further advancement of the training environment for your swimmer. Please also remember that funds raised through Swim-a-thon are not associated with the fundraising commitment to the club.

Good luck with your fundraising - let’s go Stingrays families!
