Description:

Swimmers in this squad will be striving towards Festival, Provincial and National Age Group qualification.  Swimmers are expected to make the highest possible commitment to their swimming goals.  This squad is about striving to improve swimming technique while maintaining fitness and having fun.

Pre-requisites:

Swimmers will be 12-14 years of age and be at least regionally qualified in multiple events.  Head Coach will have final decision on entry into this group.

Frequency / Schedule:

·         6 water workouts per week

·         10.5 water hours per week in addition to activation and dryland

·         Swimmers will work within a cyclical training framework focused on advanced technique and continued development of training energy systems. Therefore, attendance is critical for long-term performance and improvement.

·         General training will be as per the schedule. However, during peak training periods swimmers will be required to attend additional sessions and training camps. Separate schedules will be provided during these times.

·         During preparation for high performance meets, training volume and frequency will be reduced.  Separate schedules will be provided during these times.

Upon registration, each swimmer will receive a club t-shirt and swim cap. All swimmers will be required to have the following equipment at all sessions.

Training Camps:

Training Camps are an important part of a swimmer’s long term development.  Swimmers in the Silver group will engage in “Home” camps.  However, there may be times when the opportunity arises that they could train away in conjunction with another “local’ team. Participation in these camps is highly encouraged.
