Spring 2019 Learn to Synch Rec Program

SPRING 2019 - LEARN TO SYNCH 1

(8 week program : April - early June)

This program is for swimmers new to synchro or with limited experience.

This is an 8 week synchro program for swimmers born between 2007 and 2012 (Synchro Age 7 to 12). Basic synchro skills are developed and practiced in Learn to Synch 1. It prepares swimmers for the more advanced Learn to Synch 2. Quite a bit of this program is run in deep water, so swimmers should be comfortable with unassisted swimming in the deep end. Coaches will be close by at all times (frequently in the water).

Completion of Red Cross Swim Kids Level 4 (or equivalent) is highly recommended. Classes are one hour in length per week with 10-15 minutes of dryland time where swimmers will work on core strength and flexibility (land drill later in the season) and 45-50 minutes in the water to learn and perfect basic skills that will set them up with the ability to add on and improve themselves in future synchro classes. A strong base is required for synchro! A basic routine will be created with a focus on small patterns and synchronization of the entire group. Skills the swimmers have been learning will be incorporated into the routine.

LTAD (Long term athlete development) focuses in this program are:

8& Under: FUNdamentals - fun, awareness, physical literacy and synchro fundamentals.

9-12: Learn to Train – fun, physical literacy, synchro skill development, and competition experience.
